This week's SVU episode aired a week after Covington Catholic High School student Sandmann sued NBC Universal for $275 million (https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/05/02/covington-catholic-nick-sandmann-legal-team-sues-nbc-msnbc/3649837002/). In the episode, a group of angry Jewish students, including one named Ari wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat, taunt a Muslim-American councilwoman who resembles Rep. Ilhan Omar. "Much like with the Covington Catholic kids, the situation was a hoax, but in the show the full video doesn’t exculpate Ari’s aggressive and hostile interaction," says the conservative watchdog Media Research Center.
