tlc38tlc38 05-10-2019, 08:33 AM Wildwood Grove, the new 5-acre area of Dollywood opens to the public today! I wish I could be there for the event. Dolly will be there today and tomorrow and make several appearances, weather permitting.
The Dollywood app has updated the park map with the new area but attractions aren’t listed as of today...

It looks like it may be mostly shops & stage/events centers, going by the look of the picture. It would be nice if it did have more rides/attractions. Will you be checking it out this summer?

I plan on going sometime this year but not sure when. It’ll probably be in September or October....or maybe August 3 (the last Saturday of the Summer fireworks). I might wait and see if Dolly is making more appearances this year and plan around that.
It’s actually MOSTLY rides and only 1 shop.
Rides:
Dragonflier
Black Bear Trail (kiddie ride)
Frogs & Fireflies (kiddie ride)
Great Tree Swing
The Mad Mockingbird
Treetop Tower
There’s meet and greet characters: Benjamin Bear, Franklin Frog, and Flit & Flutter (fairies)
“Till & Harvest” is a new eatery.
“Hidden Hollow” is indoor kid-friendly activities.
“Mountain Grove Merchants” is a new shop.
“Sweets and Treats” sweet stand.
And the beautiful Wildwood Tree:

I’ve already seen her once last year. She was there another time I was there but I missed her parade while I was attending a show.

tlc38tlc38 05-11-2019, 07:12 PM I’m planning on going August 3. I need to save up about $500 in order to spend the night in a hotel and get up the next morning and come home. I only live 3 hours away so it’s not too bad. Of course, I’ll want to buy LOTS of souvenirs!!
It’s expensive to go:
Gas approx. $30
Ticket approx. $85 with taxes
Parking fee $15
Food $30
Souvenirs $130 or so
Hotel for 1-night $208 with taxes (I called and got a quote from hotel I always stay at when I visit)
I so wanna see that Wildwood tree all lit up at night and ride the Great Tree Swing & Dragonflier!
tlc38tlc38 05-11-2019, 09:32 PM Found a good deal online for tickets. Got one for $48 instead of the $85 normal price. Saved $37 that can go towards more souvenirs!
tlc38tlc38 05-13-2019, 03:04 PM This past weekend. Dolly with Flit & Flutter at the grand opening of “Wildwood Grove”.

tlc38tlc38 05-28-2019, 11:00 PM Canceled my original hotel room booking and booked through Priceline and save $30! Still very excited about my August visit. Anyone wanna join me there?!?!

I wanna have my pic taken with Flit & Flutter!
I’m taking $300 for souvenirs. I plan on buying a couple t-shirts, magnets, pens, snowglobe (if they have one), and whatever else I find.
It looks so bright & colorful there. Bet you'll have a great time.

I’ve never ridden a roller coaster before so I’m going to conquer my fear and climb on the new Dragonflier, then if that goes over well, I’ll ride another one.
tlc38tlc38 06-11-2019, 07:36 PM Got me some red shoes today to wear to Dollywood!

tlc38tlc38 06-28-2019, 08:19 AM Just found out that the dresses Dolly wore at this year’s Grammy awards have been added to her museum at Dollywood! Can’t wait to see these beautiful pieces of artwork. I really hope they also have the “Red Shoes” that she wore.

That's great to hear about!
tlc38tlc38 07-26-2019, 08:45 PM Had a car wreck today and quite possibly totaled my car. I’ll know for sure mid of next week the fate of it. My brother is letting me use his truck for work but it’s not that dependable and wouldn’t make it Dollywood. I’m now having to rent a car to take my trip. Hopefully, things won’t get any worse between now and then.
tlc38tlc38 08-02-2019, 11:14 AM Tomorrow is the day!!
Praying I don’t get rained out. It’s a 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms in the area.

tlc38tlc38 08-06-2019, 04:08 PM By the way, the summer fireworks were simply spectacular! The best fireworks I’ve ever seen. Dolly does patriotism very well!
tlc38tlc38 08-15-2019, 05:34 PM Already making plans to go back this November for Christmas! My best friend will also be joining me!

Retirement? She’s stated on many occasions that she never plans to retire. She wants to die while singing on stage.
What she does with her body is her business, not mine. I’ll personally think she’s beautiful no matter what she does...her music and caring soul make her shine.

I can't help but feel that her breasts are a gimmick, designed to mask her insecurity onstage. However I have read that she is a religious person, so you may be right. https://www.star2.com/entertainment/2018/11/23/dolly-parton-ample-bosom/

Dolly is great in the movie. She’s been great in ANY movie I’ve seen. Dolly can do it all: sing, act, song-write, be an outrageously funny comedienne with a wicked sense of humor, astute businesswoman....(have I left anything out? I might have as our beloved Dolly is so versatile...)

She’s admitted to having breast implants. She even jokes about it.
Person: “Are they real?”
Dolly: “They better be. I paid enough for them!”

It was on because TCM did something called Summer Under The Stars, where they showcase a day of movies featuring a particular celebrity. The star in question was Shirley MacLaine.
tlc38tlc38 08-29-2019, 09:15 AM Dolly has a new line of paintings at Kirkland’s inspired by some of her songs!
The paintings are gorgeous! I love the “Love is Like a Butterfly” print!

Is it ONLY Country music shows?
What kind of rides do they have? Are they any different from regular amusement parks like 6 Flags?

MrCleveland 10-28-2019, 10:55 PM Dollywood looks kinda cool...It's got that small charm amusement park feel, which is now rare.
Too bad Euclid Beach didn't survive...but the area where it was at was going downhill due to the urban blight.
The next closest amusement park like that is Idlewild.
