An odd question, but...

How tall is Dorothy/Bea?

5'9". She only looks so incredibly tall because the other girls are short. I read somewhere that Betty is only about 5'2" and Rue can't be more than about 5'3 1/2" (She was a good bit shorter than me but a little taller than my mom, who's 5'2".) Estelle's exact height has never been revealed, but she must be TINY. On The John Larroquette Show, it seems like she only comes up a little bit past John's waist. I saw her handprints at MGM Studios (Disney World) last week and they were teeny.

I always thought Bea was taller, for some reason. I would have put her at around 5'10" or thereabouts. Notice how she never wore high heels on the show? :)

It seems like she often wore shoes that were paper thin.

I always thought I was shorter than Bea Arthur! I'm 5'11"!!

You can tell that Estelle is real short from that episode where she goes out with Julio Iglesias! How tall is he? 6'0"? She barely came over his waist!

It's funny...sometimes Bea looks REALLY tall, and then sometimes she looks average height. I say she's around 5'10-5-11.

She's either 4'9 or 4'11...I've read both. That's pretty small either way. :lol:

You have to remember that this was the 80's! Everybody looked stupid! I used to wear my hair in a 'punk pony' (side ponytail) and two different colored socks. I also liked to wear really long shirts with belts as dresses! EEWWW!

I got to meet Bea Arthur, and she is probably 5'9" or 5'10". In her show, she jokes about being 5'9 in her stocking feet at age eight, so that might be closer. Also, you know folks get shorter as they get older. Rue looks mighty short because she wears such HIGH heels, especially in THE GOLDEN PALACE. bea also went with flat shoes, and was even barefoot on stage through the whole show. My friends say she always prefers to walk barefoot backstage as well.

It was really fun to meet Bea and now I hear Rue will be performing again in NYC, I am hoping to meet her. Maybe I'll get to meet 3 out of 4 Golden Girls. And Bea Aarthur really is painfully shy in person. I only got to meet her cuz I wrote her earlier and she wrote me back saying I could meet her, and even that meeting was very quick. I have a picture, but she blinked. it doesn't matter though, cuz I got to meet Dorothy Zbornak. :crazy:
