Considering Dallas ended in 1991 they should've started the Dallas reboot in the early to mid 2000s at the latest. They knew the cast were already senior citizens and older so time was running out fast!

The original Dallas creators were still around then and there were good writers around they could've used. Then they could've gotten 5 or 6 good years in the series WITH J.R., Cliff and the rest of the cast healthy enough to take on a full role!

So WHY on earth did the wait so long until it was basically TOO late?? J.R. was too old for the TBS reboot and died soon after. You all know there is NO Dallas without J.R.!

The series was exhausted before 1991, and given this fact they did quite a good job in 2012.

The series was exhausted before 1991, and given this fact they did quite a good job in 2012.

They needed time to let the series fade out and the new generation of Ewings to be old enough to be adults and lead characters.

Plus, they had the sequel TV-movies J.R. Returns and War Of The Ewings in the late 90s to give the fans some new stories.
