When did Beaver stop or start loosing things or leave things until the last minute?
How much more responsible was Wally when he was 12 to 14 vs Beaver in the beginning of LitB and Beaver at 12 to 14 at the end of LitB?
Is Robbie (My Three Sons early color episodes) older then or the same as Wally?
Are Chip in 1963 season and Beaver in 1960-1962 about the same age?
Which season was the Chip called up the older girl(who liked Robbie) who he liked who was older then him for a date ? Did either Wally (season 1or 2) or Beaver when was 12 or 13 ever call a girl on the phone without the being a dance or the like?

Beaver leaving things till the last minute--it seemed to start in season 2 with episodes where he had to write a poem for tomorrow, but knew about it for a few weeks. In later episodes this continued when he put off book reports, wrote a Three Musketeers book report from a TV Movie (that was in the eighth grade). So this went on from little kid to big kid.

Although Wally was smaller for his age than Beaver for the same (supposed) age later, Wally seemed way more mature and responsible than Beaver at the same age later.

Robbie in M3S first color season (S6) was starting college, so was 18 or 19 probably. Wally was supposedly 17 in LITBs final season.

On Beaver/Chip I'd say yes.

The episode where the girl wanted Robbie rather than Chip was an early 6th season episode. I know for sure since it was just on MeTV the other day.

Early in season 1 Wally was hung up on a girl named Penny, and I don't think there was a dance or similar event involved. Beaver ruined that relationship by bringing her a frog. I don't remember Beaver calling a girl without it being for some specific event, but I may be forgetting something. He did other stuff, like giving a locket to Donna in the 6th season (and of course getting in trouble for it).

Wally was 12 in the 1st season and 3rd season Beaver was about the same age as Wally was in season season 1. Wally was in the Scouts from early in the 1st season and was in sports for I think. Was that purely because Wally was the older one or was it the kind of guy? Did Wally end up going on with the girl he hung up on?

In the third season (aired 1959-1960) Beaver was portrayed as being 10 and in the fourth grade. Mathers, whose birthday was in June of 1948, probably would have been around 11 when the third season was filmed, if they started filming in the summer of 1959.

The age thing caught up with the producers near the end of the fifth season. During most of the fifth season Beaver was portrayed as a 12 year old sixth grader. Mathers shot up in this season, and in the show, they never showed Beaver being in the seventh grade; in fact, near the end of the fifth season Wally remarks to June that Beaver is going into the eighth grade.

WIth the Wally character the reverse happened. In the fourth season (1960-1961) Wally was a junior in high school; in fact, he made a remark near the end of the fourth season about a gift the class of 1962 was making to the school, a water fountain or something like that. During the sixth season Wally was portrayed as a 17 year old senior. In essence he was a senior twice.

Wally was always portrayed as an athlete (like Dow really was), and Beaver, not. They changed that up in the sixth season, where Beaver was good at football.

Nothing ever came of Wally's brief infatuation with Penny in the first season (this of course is a different Penny from Beaver's nemesis in the fourth and fifth seasons). Once Beaver gave her the frog, I think she called Wally and read him the riot act, and he threw her over.

In the final episode, Family Scrapbook, the family makes several incorrect references to the grade Beaver is in. They talk about a season one scene and remark Beaver is in the first grade--in the show Beaver was never in the first grade. They talk about the class picture as being the sixth grade and it was the fifth grade.

Penny was the one who went on a picnic with Wally and his family and was allergic to everything. Were the character originally supposed to be the ages as the actors in the 1st season? LitB started in Fall of 1957 Tony Dow was born in early 1945 (Apr 13) and Jerry Mathers was born in mid 1948 (June 2) so they would have been about 13 and 9. Tony would probably have just 8th grade probably and Jerry would have probably just started 3rd grade. Tony Dow was a high diver and Jerry Mathers was in the Cub Scouts probably would have become a Boy Scout in 2 or 3 yrs.
Season 1 the characters: Wally was 12 but it was stated that he was in the 8th grade but that would be more like 6th or 7th grade. While Beaver was 7 3/4 yrs old and in 2nd grade which is about right. Was Beaver in 1st or 2 grade in the 1st season?

The girl who was allergic to everything was Ginny Townsend, and Wally was gone on her. He got irritated with June for once again butting in and inviting her on the picnic. That was a fourth season episode.

In one season one episode Beaver said he was 7-3/4, and Miss Canfield was his second grade teacher. In real life Jerry would have turned 7 in June, 1955. So they definitely were passing him off as younger than he really was. It worked until that growth spurt.

Yep you're right a 12 year old would normally be in the 7th grade. He looked too young to be an 8th grader at the beginning. Had they made him a seventh grader to start, he would have been graduating at the end of the sixth season.

It'd be easier with kid actors if shows would just age them as their real age.

That's right. It work pretty well til the growth spurt. 12 year old could either be in 6th or 7th grade but the he would have been starting or in 7th grade since was going on 13 he would have been in 7th Yes grade. Was the 6th season the last season? Yes it would be.
Were the 1st season shows actually flimed in summer 1957?

That's an interesting question, about when episodes were filmed. With some shows, that information in included in websites, like Bewitched on Wikipedia. I don't think I've ever seen filmed dates on LITB episodes.

And, yes, there were 6 seasons of LITB. The last season was the one with the totally-revamped theme, and everyone and everything seemed more modern.

Yep, looking at these early episodes it's really amazing how much better an actor Mathers is than in the later ones. Maybe some of it is better writing earlier on.

Totally agree!! I actually avoid My Three Sons. Even MacMurray rose to a level of incompetent acting. He was pretty good in his early movies. There’s a show that went on way too long. (Robbie marrying Katie and having triplets, Chip getting a girlfriend ugh and Steve getting with Barbara and Doty.) Don Grady found his niche in life and wrote theme music. Ernie made me nervous with his voice change and Chip was just obnoxious. I could tolerate Beaver twisting for 1/2 hour than Chip trying to act.

I was an avid watcher (at the time) of My 3 Sons and liked it a great deal but it is not a show that aged well at all. Chip trying to act LOL
