I guess this was another time the writers had a license to have it their way. Beaver finds they are having the father/child picnic sponsored by the school that Saturday. It was probably Monday they got the permission slip. Wouldn’t you think they would give the families more notice than a few days? Why not give them a few weeks notice as people have plans. It would have been more believable if Beaver forgot and told Ward at the last minute like the poem. Miss Landers once again makes Beaver feel bad being the only one not going. I wonder what happened to Charles Fredericks’ dad as Charles is going with Whitey’s uncle.

Yep that would have made more sense, and it would have gone along with other mistakes Beaver makes, like leaving his poem til the last minute and forgetting David's party.

I don't recall it that way. A weeks notice for anything maybe

Seems it’s Monday when she announces the picnic for that Saturday. Way too sudden in my opinion.

I just watched this one and I did think it was weird that they only gave a few days notice, but then again I think they were just trying to speed things up for the show. What I wondered though was why Ward couldn't have taken Eddie and Wally fishing at the lake on Sunday. They could have gone after church and then Wally wouldn't have had to disappoint one of his sons by making him wait another week.
