I have been seeing a lot of hype for Disney's live action remake of Aladdin that's supposed to debut in theaters June 24th and when I have seen the previews for Disney's Aladdin I cannot figure out why Disney decided to make a live action Aladdin in the first place? I think it won't be as great as the original animated Aladdin and will fail in theaters. A second thing I can't figure out is why do they have Will Smith playing The Genie? I was surprised and shocked that they did this when they could've had a comedian or a sitcom star be The Genie that's as good as Robin Williams. I was seven years old when the animated Aladdin debuted in theaters and Jasmine became my favorite Disney Princess but when I noticed that Princess Jasmine is not dressed like the original Princess Jasmine and hardly acts like Jasmine from the animated Aladdin I feel that Disney should've made Jasmine be like the original Jasmine and made her outfit like the original Princess Jasmine wore in the animated Aladdin. I feel that Disney should've kept the original working title Genies and made this film a lot better it would be a huge hit rather than naming it Disney's Aladdin. But at least it will inspire merchandise deals with Hasbro and Disney Stores as Aladdin merchandise has already hit store shelves. We shall see June 24th when Aladdin debuts in theaters

I have no interest in seeing this at all. Will Smith as the Genie is a complete and utter atrocity.

Robin Williams was the Genie and no one...I repeat...NO ONE can hold a candle to that Genie, and with me watching this film?

it actually comes out may 24!! the more previews i see then the more i want to see it!! i still think they should have gone with cgi for the gennie!!

I'll just stick with watching the original classic.

I cannot believe that the live action version of Disney's Aladdin is number one in theaters and I think that this remake as I mentioned in my first post will be a failure for Disney. For one thing I listened to the soundtrack of Aladdin and I was shocked to hear Will Smith sing Arabian Nights and completely changes the lyrics to something different and they should've had someone better to sing Arabian Nights than Will Smith. Also Friend Like Me is a mess and Will Smith when I heard him sing it reminded me of William Shatner and completely changed the lyrics also. I like Will Smith's rap songs but singing as The Genie doesn't suit him well. About the only thing that will make this version worthy of watching is that Princess Jasmine gets her song and is a very wonderful song. And the version of A Whole New World performed by Zayn is okay but Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle's version is better. So while Disney may have a hit on their hands I think it's better to wait til Disney releases on DVD and wait for it to hit the Disney bargain bin
