View Full Version : Elinor Donahue
Ziggy 06-13-2002, 03:07 AM Was Elinor Donahue ever a professional ballet dancer before she became an actress? In the episode that was on tonight where she was she was supposed to dance in a show but then got stage fright, she was actually really good, and I was just curious.
I also really liked her in the early episodes of The Andy Griffith Show when she played the pharmacist. They should have kept her on as Andy's girlfriend and gotten rid of that awful Helen Crump!
TVJunkie101 08-24-2002, 10:10 AM I have no clue about that, but I do know Elinor was on an episode of GOLDEN GIRLS as Katherine in "Stan's New Wife." I never knew that, and I regularly follow GG, so it was a shock to me, because I had no clue what Elinor did after FKB. She looked great in GG (the episode aired in 1989). I knew there was something about the woman who played Katherine, but I just never knew it was Elinor Donahue (Btw, Lifetime does squished credits and plays them so fast, I never could find out who the person who played Katherine was). also, she was only in that one episode.
I feel so stupid I never knew this, LOL!

Elinor did plenty after FKB. First, she was a regular on The Andy Griffith Show during its first season. She played Andy's girlfriend, Ellie. But she left that show to start a family. Years later in the '70s, she bacame a semi-regular on The Odd Couple. Later in the decade, she played the mother on a family series called (I believe) Mulligan's Stew (move over, Jane Wyatt, Elinor Donohue is a mom now!). But that show didn't make it and got cancelled. In the years since, I'm not sure what she's done, other than those FKB reunion movies.

What's your question?
mister bluster 11-17-2002, 12:42 AM I know of just one other thing she did after Odd Couple, and that was a bit part in Pretty Woman. That's all I can think of anyway. She was supposed to have been in the TV movie Shake Rattle and Roll, but I never did spot her in it.
FreddieFan 11-17-2002, 12:23 PM Wasn't she the mother in the Chris Elliot sitcom around 10-15 years ago called "Get A Life"?
mister bluster 11-17-2002, 06:46 PM Could be. I never saw that show, so I don't really know. I was out of touch with the television for a few years back then.
thatbirdmartha 11-18-2002, 03:44 AM Yes, she was on the Chris Eliot show. She also wrote a cookbook, and I believe, like Jane Wyatt, appeared in one of the Star Trek series as a guest star.
major 12-28-2002, 05:02 PM She also had a recurring role as Luthor's girlfriend in Coach/
Goodnight Gracie 07-06-2003, 02:19 AM She was on friends as Ross and Monicas aunt . Sister to their mom.
vedastone 08-19-2003, 08:50 AM "Goodnight Gracie", she also was on an episode of Burns & Allen, during the 1955-56 season!
