My picture on Metv makes the picture crunched into a smaller frame. Perry Mason looked a foot taller yesterday and today the top of Barney Fife's head is chopped off and he looks even thinner than ever. Is this a general issue with MeTv recently? The commercials look like normal.

Could it be your MeTV affiliate?

Could it be your MeTV affiliate?

I have inquired but no answer yet. If nobody else notices it I am sure it is.

If you have a flat screen, have you tried adjusting your pix shape while watching MeTV? It could do the trick. I haven't noticed it myself.

I hope you get an answer back from them. Just checked my affiliate and don’t see anything wrong with the picture quality so far.

My affiliate (Little Rock) has looked terrible for the last year. It's supposedly being transmitted in HD, but Perry Mason and Matlock look much better in SD on FeTV on DirecTV. I've sent e-mails, but they don't respond.

You've been misinformed. KMYA is 480i SD, not HD. Besides, it would make no sense for anyone to broadcast MeTV in HD since the vast majority of its programming is older 480i.

Yeah, I know. DirecTV has it on their guide in HD. A year or so ago, the picture was MUCH better. They were knocked off line for a a few days and after they came back on, it's looked like crap ever since.

Most of the shows on their schedule were shot on film so they can be aired in HD. Many of them are being shown in HD on other channels and streamers. Have you seen Gunsmoke on INSP? It looks as crisp as anything on modern TV.

Just checked the Me-TV Satellite Feed over C-Band, and the aspect ratio is just fine. Broadcasting in 16:9 at 720p60. Shows shot in 4:3 are still transmitted in 14:9. I noticed no other cropping.

They can be aired in HD if the studio goes to the trouble of scanning them in HD. I'd say most of the older shows will probably never get that treatment. For instance, there's no Brady Bunch in HD anywhere. Likewise, most of the less popular westerns. No Gomer Pyle or Love Boat. In fact, many of the later Love Boat episodes exist only in video form and look terrible even on DVD, so I'm not holding out hope for HD there.
