I found a singer named Freddie Scott who was an R&B singer from the 60's who was best known for singing a cover of Hey Girl and also sang a cover of Let It Be Me and when I first heard him he reminded me of Samuel L. Jackson in his singing style and what's surprising is that Freddie Scott continues to sing concerts today and he's still amazing as ever
