View Full Version : Janet's Face towards the end of the series
cfr1970 04-21-2019, 10:21 AM I never could put my finger on it, but when I was little and watched during the original time, I just assumed she got a bit fat. But her body is still quite trim. Did she have some kind of plastic surgery during the last season?
I just can't figure out what the change is from the previous seasons other than her entire face suddenly appears more rounder and fuller towards the end. 1984 was still before Botox so it couldn't have been that. Did she just eat and only get plump in her face? Cheek implants? Her eyes seem more wide open too.
If she had plastic surgery, I just can't pinpoint what she did...only that it appears she did something.
JackJanetChrissy 04-21-2019, 06:22 PM Between Seasons 7 and 8 she got a nose job and something done to her eyes, possibly an eye lift. Her nose is more rounded and flat, and her eyes are less almond-shaped and her lower waterline is more visible. She also wears less eye-makeup (and less overall makeup) in the last season than she had previously.
Lots of pressure in Hollywood to always look young and beautiful, even if you're already young and beautiful.
cfr1970 04-21-2019, 08:35 PM You have a much better eye for this than me. For so long i've known she did something, but I could never figure out exactly what. So she didn't have cheek implants? In the final season her entire face just appears much more rounded and fuller than earlier seasons.
I think she was much better looking before the change. My favorite look is the season the Ropers left when she first had that early 80's Pat Benetar haircut. She was perfect like that!
JackJanetChrissy 04-22-2019, 12:53 PM She may have had cheek fillers, but I think it's her nose that affects the rest of her face. It's amazing what a nose can do to a person's looks. With her smaller nose I think her face looked fuller. She also wasn't contouring as much in the last couple seasons, so her cheekbones were less defined with makeup. Her hair was longer, too, which may have softened her face shape a little.

Why on earth would she have gotten a nose job?? Her nose looked fine right?
I did notice in seasons 7 & 8 she did look older. Even older than John. Her face looked fuller and a little saggy (at times) in those last 2 seasons but nothing horrible or anything.

What on earth are you talking about? She looked fine. So much judgment on people's appearances on this board. If anyone looked older as the show went on it was Richard Kline (because he was actually older than the trio in real life), and he looked fine, too. The show was on for eight years. People age, get over it.
cfr1970 04-25-2019, 11:44 PM I'm watching the first episode on Antenna TV and now that I look closely, Janet's face and cheeks were kind of plump and rounded even back then.
So I guess it could just be the way she wore her makeup during the early 80's that gave her face a more slimmer look. And when she wore lesser makeup in the final season, it just made the roundness of her face more noticeable than before.
But now that I look in the early episodes, the shape of her face is pretty much the same as in the end. I don't think she ever looked older than the other roommates though.

But why did she get a nose job when there's nothing wrong with her nose??

I looked at her nose too tonight in the pilot, and for the life of me can't really tell a difference. It looks the same as in the 8th season BUT...I do think she definitely had something done in the final season, it's just hard to pinpoint exactly what it was. Like I can't put my finger on it.
I guess that's a sign of good plastic surgery---when you can't tell what the hell they did, but you know that they did something?!
Has it been verified she had a nose job and did she ever discuss it?

LOL..if no one can tell you did it then what's the point of getting a nose job in the first place??
I'm not aware of her having discussed the nose job. Does anyone know if she has? Her side of the story could clear things up.

I answered this earlier. Lots of pressure in Hollywood to get that kind of thing done even if you already look good. I think that can get inside a person's head. Both men and women do it but it's more common for women to do it because when women age onscreen it's considered offensive by this effed up society. In Hollywood plastic surgery is a career investment, not just vanity.
She definitely did something to her nose before Season 8. Her nostrils are different and, viewed in profile, the tip of the nose is blunter and smaller, more of a snubbed nose. It elongates the distance between her nose and her top lip, which changes the whole look of her face.
I don't judge her for doing it but something happened there. I don't think she would admit to it, though, because that kind of thing is usually private.
SitcomsHeydayfan 04-27-2019, 03:01 AM I agree looks mean everything in Hollywood but I don't see the point when most people can't even tell the difference!
You'd think she would been better off with breast implants. At least then she would've gotten work quickly after TC!

C'mon, don't be a dick. Joyce didn't want any work after Three's Company, anyway. Because of the way the series ended she realized what a hollow place Hollywood was and went her own way.
Bonniegirl 04-27-2019, 02:32 PM I ' m wondering is that for sure Joyce got a nose job? I'm not the best source being I don't really watch TC much, but looking at pictures of Joyce through the seasons her nose doesn't look any different to me.
Like the other poster said in the years with her short Pat Benatar haircut it slimmed her face out. Also she seemed to be wearing a lot of eyeliner and blush. I'm thinking the haircut and makeup contoured her face. And the last season with the haircut grown out and less makeup her face looked heavier again. ;)
So IMO, I'm thinking that was just it. And no nose job or any plastic surgery was done? Again this us just my humble opinion, being she looked at her best and slimmest during the Pat Benatar phase, why would she want to change that and make herself look pudgier ?
cbikle 05-14-2019, 04:14 PM I actually LIKE how she looked in later seasons.
She also dressed sexier on the show, which I was cool with.
