by Katie Kilkenny
April 17, 2019

Mya-Lecia Naylor, the British child star who starred on TV's "Absolutely Fabulous", "Millie Inbetween" and "Almost Never" and in the film Cloud Atlas has died, the CBBC announced Wednesday.

She was 16.

"We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, has very sadly died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children’s family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer. We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends," the CBBC said in its statement.⁣

"We know this news is very upsetting, and it may help to share how you are feeling with friends or a trusted adult. If you are struggling and there is no one you feel you can talk to about it, you can call @Childline_official on 0800 11 11.⁣ ⁣ You can also find an online condolence book on the CBBC website."

BBC News has reported that Naylor's agents at A&J Management said she died on April 7 after she collapsed, but that the cause of death is not yet known.

The agency told the BBC that Naylor was "hugely talented and a big part of A&J."

Naylor rose to fame in her debut as Safi's daughter, Jane, on "Absolutely Fabulous" and seven years later played the title role on the television series "Tati's Hotel".

She worked steadily since then, appearing in film roles in Cloud Atlas, Code Red and Index Zero, as well as playing Fran on two seasons of "Miliie Inbetween" and Mya on "Almost Never".

There's got to be more to this story, 16 year olds just don't drop dead. More than likely drugs played a role somewhere.

She could have had an undiagnosed heart condition. We don't really know.

Her cause of death hasn't been revealed (yet).

This article is from Sept. 2019, but I just found it now... her death was ruled "misadventure" as the investigation revealed she was found hanged. Her family said she had been grounded and stopped from going to a party and had some worries about her GCSE results being worse than expected.

The coroner said Naylor had no alcohol or drugs in her system and her father, Martin Naylor, added he had seen her two hours before she was found, and felt it was "a spur of the moment" act and she had not intended to kill herself.

He told South London Coroners Court: "I honestly believe she was just making some sort of point. I genuinely believe she did not mean to do it."

How do you hang yourself and not really mean it?? What a stupid thing to do, throw away your very young life. No doubt if she had just waited 24 hours she probably would have come to her senses. Then again young people think they're invulnerable, maybe the kid thought she really wouldn't die. What a stupid shame and waste.:(

I’ve thought about this and the only thing that makes sense to me is that she may have “staged” hanging herself in an attempt to be “saved” by one of her relatives. She could have hung something around her neck and waited for someone to check on her as she “hanged herself”. Something may have went wrong and she wound up hanging herself for real not meaning to die.
