on "ALL IN THE FAMILY" once, Jean Stapleton played a woman who looked like Edith.
On "FRIENDS" once David Schimmer played a guy who looked like Ross.

On an episode of Full House John Stamos played Jesse and a lookalike cousin of Jesse's (they put a fake moustache on him) visiting from Greece.

Fran Drescher also reprised her role of Bobbi Fleckman from the 1984 film This Is Spinal Tap and made a cameo appearance as herself in the third to last episode. Charles Shaughnessy also had a double role as a foreign sultan in one episode as well.

On an episode of F Troop, Larry Storch played a dual role of Corporal Agarn and his Russian cousin Agarnoff.

The Brady Bunch Peter played another boy who looked just like him from his school.

Martin Lawrence played a bunch of different characters in Martin.

On Small Wonder Tiffany Brissette played Vickie, and an alter-ego evil robot, Vanessa.

In Star Trek Kirk plays another Kirk who molests Yeoman Janice Rand (my fav pretty girl in that show)

There's also a Star Trek episode where some of the crew end up in a parallel universe, where there are duplicates of several of them, with different personalities, and slightly different appearances.

a couple times on STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION Brent Spiner also played Datas evil twin brother Lorre and on one episode he played Data, Lorre and there scientist/creator Dr. Soong.
Once on STAR TREK: VOYAGER Robert Picardo played the scientist/Doctor who created the EMH.
And once on STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE 9 Jonathon Frakkes played William Rikers evil twin

in a 3 STOOGES short (I know they're not a TV show but some people insist they are:lol:) Moe, Larry and Curly-Joe played Moe, Larry and Curly-Joe and their brothers.
And once Curly played himself and Moe, Larry and Curlys father. (I forget the name of the short)
And in a re-make of it ( "UP IN DAISYS PENTHOUSE") Shemp played their father.
And once in another Shemp one Moe played an angel in one scene.
Another time; in a Curly-Joe one Moe played there sister.

On All in the family Jean played a girl friend ?? of Thedore Bikel's character.The character had a foreign accent and was a bit stiff in personality. One of the characters was named Klemmer.

On the last season of Alice Linda Lavin sometimes played Debbie Walden, a funny old Jewish lady who was Vera's landlady!

On Friends Lisa Kudrow who played Phoebe also was her twin Sister Ursula!

In addition to playing Samantha on Bewitched, she also portrayed her cousin Serena

Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Actor Jeffrey Combs played the roles of a Vorta named Weyoun and a Ferengi named Brunt. And he ended up playing both characters in one episode. But the characters didn't have any scenes together unlike Brent Spiner playing Data and Lore in some episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

On Barney Miller, the actors who played Levitt (Ron Carey) and Dietrich (Steve Landesberg) made their first appearances on the show playing another character (in both cases, criminals who were arrested).

While it never made it in to the show, Andy Kaufman got Taxi to "hire" his alter-ego Tony Clifton to play Louie's brother, but like most things involving the Clifton character, it went south fast, and Clifton never made it in to the finished product.

Gilligan's Island there were 2 Thurston Howells and the fake one ended up on their island and I believe there was a spy on the island that was Gilligan's double but had a voice over with a much lower voice. . . . . . .

In "Soap", Bert was abducted by aliens, and they sent a Bert clone to avoid suspicion. They appeared together in a few scenes.

On The Love Boat Gavin MacLeod played both the captain and his brother Marshall. Bernie Kopell played Doc and another character whose name escapes me at the moment. Kind of an PI type role...that allowed Bernie to showcase his talent for accents.

in the TV movie "GET SMART RETURNS" (I think that was the title) Bernie Koppell revived the role of Sigfreid ("Zis is kaos, ve do not ____ here.") and also played Sigfreids twin brother.

on "STAR TREK" once, William Shatner played Kirk and a clone that was made of him.
Another time he played Kirk and Kirks evil twin created as the result of a transporter accident.
On "STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION" a couple times Brent Spiner played Data and Datas evil twin Lore. And one of those times he also played the scientist who created them; Dr. Noonian Sing.

This one's a bit different in that it's not a sitcom but sci fi and the actor wasn't seen for the one role. On the sc ifi series Farscape actor Lani Tupu played Bialar Crais. The first few seasons he guest starred here and there as Crais on some episodes until being added as a regular cast member in the later seasons. But then he was also a regular from the beginning because he was the voice of the alien, "Pilot" that was joined with the ship Moya and steered her and monitored most of Moya's systems. You can't recognize its his voice as Pilot because they must've used some electronic wizardry to change it when he was recording Pilot's dialogue. If you listen when Pilot's speaking though you can tell it's the same rhythmic cadence as when you hear Crais speaking. And for those of you haven't seen it, while Tupu did Pilot's voice, Pilot was "played" by a sophisticated and large puppet.

Children's sci-fi drama example: I am Frankie: Alex Hook plays lead character Frankie Gaines, and, occasionally, Frankie's evil twin, Eliza.

Red Dwarf had several episodes of characters playing double roles -

Chris Barrie who played Arnold J Rimmer, a couple of later season episodes played his much cooler alternate universe version Ace Rimmer.

The season 3 episode Rimmerworld, Rimmer, who is crashlanded on a barren planet terraforms it using his DNA which results in the planet being populated by his clones, both male and female, Chris Barrie plays both.

There were a few episodes where the 4 cast members ran into past and present versions of themselves, and a season 7 episode we saw an alternate universe version of them.

In the episode Back To Reality , the 4 guys think that everything that has happened to them has been part of a virtual reality game, they wake up in the 'real world', and find themselves as different people than who they thought they were.

Mike was out of a few eps. He had his tonsils removed, and one time he got seasick and they had to work around him.

My favorite ep is "I Was A 99 Pound Weakling" and his absence is a running joke, as the other 3 often say "I wish Mike was here."

Mari Gorman played 3 roles on Barney Miller. The first was an alledged lady of the evening. Then she played high-strung detective, Rosslyn Licori. Her much more recognized role was a Naomi Bender, Bruno Bender's wife.
George Murdock played Master Sgt. J.R. Reville and of Lt. Scanlon, who was alway trying to get something on the detectives. And the feeling was mutual.

John Ritter pretended to be Jack's twin brother Austin in the Three's Company episode "Double Trouble."
