Murder, She Wrote's format is "so refreshing," says Brett White, who was too young to watch the show when it originally aired but is watching now that the first five seasons of the 1984-1996 CBS crime drama starring Angela Lansbury is on Amazon Prime. Because, he adds, "modern dramas, the buzzy kind that we all binge on Netflix or eagerly await new episodes of on HBO or FX, ask a lot....This is why Murder, She Wrote is such a refreshing change of pace in 2019. The show delivers all the murder and mystery modern audiences want from TV shows, but it requires almost none of the commitment."

Yes it's surprising that murder can have such a tranquil and soporific effect as I glimpse at life in New England from the safety and comfort of my armchair, though not too sure how much I really discern, the stalwart actress Angela Lansbury holding the show together with her transatlantic twang and the reassuring if geriatric support cast of Doctor Seth Hazlitt and Sheriff Amos Tupper keeping the young in their place and ensuring that the culprit each time is brought to justice.

It’s still one of my favorite shows. I’ve always enjoyed the coziness of it and I adore Angela.
