Can you imagine transporting all those 12 year old rowdy boys about 50 miles standing up in an open truck with just a tailgate? One push and several could fall out on the road. That would never happen now. June was worried about Wally going away overnight what about how they were getting there.

Never thought of that before. Kids did all kinds of dangerous stuff back in the 50s and 60s. I remember climbing WAY up in trees. Half the time your parents didn't know your exact whereabouts. Just, "out playing." Now, they're in playing with their electronic devices.

Right. I had a friend who would sulk and go climb to the top of a tall tree. How she never fell is beyond me. That truck carrying all those boys is down right scary.

As a kid we rode around in the back of pick ups though NOT on the highway ... heck - cars didn't even have seat belts back then and babies were always carried in mom's arms in the front seat - & candy cigarettes ? but we survived (mostly) LOL
