Frank Gannucci 04-10-2019, 11:07 PM (The NY Islanders beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3.)
(Alice comes home and reads the news on her smartphone that the Islanders won.)
Alice: "1...2...3."
Ralph & Ed (from the hallway, yell): "BOY, WHAT A GAME."
(They enter into the apartment.)
Ralph: "Hiya Honey!"
Ed: "Whaddaya say Alice?"
Alice: "I see that your Islanders won."
Ralph: "Oh yes. The Islanders may no longer play in Brooklyn but we still like them."
Ed: "Pittsburgh must be in a state on angst."
Ralph: "You got that right pal. We are going to have a great post season this year."
Alice: "I hope that you didn't make a bet with Harvey Ralph."
Ralph: "Oh no. I wouldn't even think of doing that anymore."
Ed: "Hey I though that you said you would if Harvey offered you a whole lot of..."
Ralph (elbowing Ed in the stomach): "Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr."
Ed: "If the slim chance that the Penguins win, I know what I will do."
Ralph: "What are you talking about? The Penguins will never win."
Ed: "If they do, I know just what will take our mind off of it."
Ralph: "What?"
Ed: "Watching the movie Happy Feet as well as watching a biography of Mario Lemaux."
Ralph (yells): "WHAT! YOU WANT TO WATCH A BIOGRAPHY ON THE FORMER PITTSBURGH PENGUIN AND WATCH A KIDS FILM? GET OUT! GET OUT! GEEEEEEEEEEEET OUT!"
(Ed leaves.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "The Miami Beach crowds are the BEST! GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 04-12-2019, 10:27 PM (The NY Islanders beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1.)
(Ralph & Ed walk into a bar.)
Ralph: "That was a great game Norton."
Ed: "That Sydney Crosby looks all upset."
Ralph: "That kid was always spoiled. He can't stand losing. Hahahaha!"
Ed: "Now the Islanders have to go to Pittsburgh up two games to zero."
Ralph: "It ain't going to be easy."
Ed: "You are right. Winning will be a CINCH."
(Ralph rolls his eyes.)
Ed: "They are going into the steel city and walk out winners Ralph-ie boy."
Ralph: "Couldn't agree with you more Ed. Hey, take a look."
(Ed does.)
Ralph: "It is that loudmouth Charlie Bratton. The guy who yells: 'HEEERRRRRE'S CHARLIE!'"
Ed: "I see his victim Clem."
Ralph: "That Charlie hates the Islanders. I sure wish I can punch him in the face. He's got the most punchable face that I have ever seen. All I know is that every time I see him, I want to punch him right in the face."
Ed: "He's a loudmouth. His mouth is like someone in this bar."
Ralph: "Who?"
Ed: "You."
Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GET OUT! GEEEEEEEEEEEEET OUT OF HERE!"
(People look around as Ed runs out and than they look angerily at Ralph.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 04-14-2019, 02:55 PM (The NY Islanders beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1.)
(Ralph arrives at the bus depot locker room. Ed joins him.)
Ed: "Whaddaya say Ralph?"
Ralph: "Those Islanders are really cleaning Pittsburgh's clocks. The Islanders are now up three games to 0."
Ed: "I know. They could sweep the series."
Ralph: "I bet that kid Sydney Crosby is upset that his team's backs are against the wall. Hahahaha!
Ed: "If they sweep the series, they will be well rested for the next round."
Ralph: "I hope they don't suffer from what I call sweep syndrome where after sweeping one team, they end up being lethargic and lose in the following round."
Ed: "They might even get swept in the second round."
Ralph: "That is a good point. Well, soon the Islanders will be moving to Belmont Park. They will still stay on Long Island."
Ed: "True to their roots. I am not only true to my roots. I am true to the sewers."
(Ralph rolls his eyes.)
Ralph: "It is important to be true to your roots."
(They both sing a song about being true to your roots.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 04-16-2019, 10:21 PM (The NY Islanders won the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, 4 games to 0, by beating the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1.)
(Ralph & Ed come on into the subway.)
Ed & Ralph (singing loudly and off-key): "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS/NO TIME FOR LOSERS/BECAUSE WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORRRRRRLD."
Man: "Are you two done? You two are horrible singers."
Ralph: "I suppose that you are a Penguins fan? You must be upset that that the Penguins got SWEPT."
Ed: "Who are the next victims for the Islanders?"
Ralph: "I don't know."
Ed: "We just watched the game from the pool room. I heard that the next home game may be in Brooklyn and not at the Nassau Coliseum."
Ralph: "That will be great. Right in our home town."
Ed: "The Islanders may be moving out of the Barclays Center and Nassau and moving to Belmont but they are the toast of New York."
Ralph: "They are the toast of New York but I think they wouldn't mind moving to Miami Beach and becoming the toast of Miami Beach."
(Crowd cheers.)
(They all sing a song about being the toast.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
Frank Gannucci 04-26-2019, 10:10 PM (The Carolina Hurricanes beat the NY Islanders 1-0.)
(Ralph & Ed walk out of Nassau Coliseum.)
Ed: "How can I team like the Hurricanes beat the Islanders?"
Ralph: "I don't know Norton but this is a tragesty. I thought that the Islanders would be rusty after not playing for over a week and they were."
Ed: "How true Ralph. I think if the Carolina Hurricanes win, we should change the name of our bowling team, the Hurricanes to the Winners out of spite."
Ralph: "We belong on a bowling team called the Hurricanes Norton."
Ed: "Yeah, you do judging by your mouth."
Ralph: "Be careful Norton. The life you save might be your own. Now, the Islanders need to win on Sunday. I don't want them to go to Carolina down two games. That could be fatal."
Ed: "Maybe since we like the name the Hurricanes so much, we should do this."
Ralph: "What?"
Ed: "Root for the Hurricanes."
Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GET OUT OF HERE!"
(Ed leaves.)
Ralph: "What a nut."
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. The Miami Beach crowds are the BEST! GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 04-28-2019, 08:41 PM (The Carolina Hurricanes beat the NY Islanders 2-1.)
(Ralph is in the pool room. He is moping.)
Freddie Muller: "Ralph, you got to snap out of it. The Islanders still have a chance to win it. They may be down but not out."
Ralph: "I was so afraid of this Freddie. After the sweep in the first round, I thought that the Islanders would be lathergic. I think I am right. Them losing the first two games of this series is heard to stomach."
Freddie: "I agree that it would be for you."
Ralph: "Oh ho! Oh ho! Oh ho!"
Freddie: "The Islanders may pull this one off. Cheer up Ralph."
Ralph: "I guess that you are right."
(Ralph smiles.)
(Ed comes in.)
Ed: "Hey Ralph-ie boy! What a bad loss. But, you know what? You got to cheer up and smile. Don't think of today. Think of happier times. Think back to last week, when it looked like the Islanders were unstoppable and no other team could beat them. Think of today when the Islanders were in the lead and they blew it. You got to smile. SMILE."
Ralph (yells): "GET OUT!"
(Ed leaves.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 05-01-2019, 09:53 PM (The Carolina Hurricanes beat the NY Islanders 5-2.)
(Ralph & Ed are shown watching the TV in the Nortons apartment.)
Ed: "That score wasn't a blitz. That was a BLOUTZ."
Ralph: "What a lousy game Norton. The Islanders lost by three goals."
Ed: "Two of those goals came within the last three minutes Ralph-ie boy. Now the Islanders have got a big grave to climb out of."
Ralph: "I was afraid that this was going to happen Norton. The Islanders ater sweeping the Penguins would become lathergic. That long layoff might work against them."
Ed: "Now the Islanders need to win the next four games."
Ralph: "We will have to watch the game at the Raccoon Lodge."
Ed: "We can celebrate with the Raccoons. As a matter of fact, we should form a hockey team called the Raccoons."
Ralph: "Yeah. The Raccoons would be unbeatable."
Ed: "You got that right Ralph."
(They both sing a song about the Raccoons being a hockey team.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
Frank Gannucci 05-03-2019, 10:19 PM (The Carolina Hurricanes won the Eastern Conference Semifinals, 4 games to 0, by beating the NY Islanders 5-2.)
(The girls are playing poker.)
Alice: "The boys should be coming home from their Lodge meeting. They are going to be sooo sad that their Islanders lost in the playoffs."
Trixie: "Especially my Ed. He probably cry so much that he would completely soak three hankerchefs in one night."
Alice: "I can top that. Ralph will be so upset that he won't eat."
(The boys come home all sad. Ed is blowing his nose.)
Ed: "Hello girls. That is the third hankerchef that I soaked tonight after the loss."
Ralph: "I am so sad that Carolina won, I can't eat."
Alice: "Don't let it get you down boys."
Trixie: "There is always next year for your Islanders."
Ralph: "I was afraid that this was going to happen once the Islanders swept the first round. I thought that they were going to be lathergic by the time the second round came around."
Ed: "And you were right Ralph. Today was a dark, dark day."
Ralph: "I am going to say this. Next year, a local New York hockey team will win the Cup. We are going through a major drought. 17 years. I soo would want to drink from that cup."
Ed: "You would probably drink that whole thing Ralph knowing you and your beer belly."
Ralph (yells): "GET OUT! GEEEEEEEEET OUT!"
(The Nortons leave.)
(Jackie walks on stage. Crowd cheers.)
Jackie: "Thank you. The Miami Beach crowds are the BEST! GOOD NIGHT!"
(Crowd cheers.)
