I haven't been posting much because I haven't had time. Anyway, We took him to the specialist yesterday and my hubby definitely has Dementia. The past few days have been rough. He's delusional, losing things . He has lost his wallet. We know it's in the house because he hasn't been out . This happened last Sunday. My kids and I have scoured the house looking through every drawer, cupboard, pockets. He is aware that it's missing. The doctor won't prescribe any drugs yet until the Benedryl is out of his system. There could be serious side effects. So we go back in July. He had some more blood and urine tests and the doctor tested all of his reflexes and he is in excellent health physically. But it is very tiring mentally on me. It is so hard to see him going from a strong, vital intelligent man into this. Sucks big time! My son has moved in to help out and our daughter is here whenever she can be. Dave is asleep right now so I have a little time to myself. My son had to leave but will be back in an hour. So it's not good. Dave will only worsen so I'm sure a nursing home will be in our future. :(

Unfortunately there's nothing I can say except I'm sorry. What I wrote on the earlier thread was true. He is very lucky to have you.

I'm sorry to hear that Marlene. I can only imagine how hard that is. I remember as a young teenager the first time my great-grandma didn't know who my mother and I were. It was so sad. Hang in there. I know that's easier said than done.

Marlene, I'm very sorry to hear about your husband's condition. Nobody should have to suffer with this terrible disease in their retirement years. It's especially difficult for the families because they have to deal with it physically and mentally. It's good you have your children to help you out. I hope they are one day able to find a cure or slow the effects down. Stay strong.
