Danny Arnold was an original head writer and producer. Apparently, Arnold was forced out by Elizabeth Montgomery and her husband (and director) William Asher after the first season. Apparently, Irene Vernon (Louise Tate) was forced out, perhaps fired because she was good friends with Danny Arnold.

The show was arguably so much more than special effects when Arnold was there. He had fought the network's insistence on more special effects.
