Apple recently put out a new release, and now I get "Not Secure" as part of the website name, on this site. Does anyone else get this, and do you know if it's because this isn't an https site?

Yes I've been getting that notification for a few years now. I made a thread here http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?p=5229998#post5229998

I think it is due to the lack of https on the site but it's probably not a big deal.

I agree, this site doesn't need to be encrypted. I think Apple used to just show an unlocked padlock (and on an https site they show a locked padlock).

When using a browser such as Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, I don’t get this message.

No it doesnt.. Its insane how many ppl are being scared down this control path!!!!!

Makes it harder for those of us on older browsers that cant read the new certs!!

BOTTOM LINE IS: HTTPS IS NOT NEEDED ON A SITE LIKE THIS!!!!!!! (Def not forcing it)

cellar.org (VBB) has HTTPS but they dont block HTTP (Niether does hipforums.com/forum (Xenforo))

The whole thing is sickening that people can be controlled and led so easily!!!!!!

This site did not all of a sudden become UNSECURE... Its just stupid scare mongering garbage meant to get you doing what they want!!

I'm using Opera for a browser at the moment, and SitcomsOnline is not secure on there either.

Same with Chrome.

https is mostly for banking and retail sites when you give your credit card information. I know many big sites like ESPN.com haven't switched over to https yet. I know the site is secure and the passwords are encrypted, so we've never had any major problems.

We bought a SSL certficate, but it still needs to be installed and configured. We will probably have to move to another server soon, so I'm going to try to get everything done then. It's a bit complicated to set up because all of the http links will need to be changed to https and all the http pages will have to re-direct to https. It will help more people find the site when we switch to https because the search engines seem to rank https sites higher.

It will probably be done near the end of the month. It will probably take 12-24 hours to do everything.

It would be really nice if this was all fixed, because I'm getting tired and annoyed of seeing the Not Secure message on just about almost every browser I use.

It's still safe to use. That's the same message I got when using Webroot and uninstalling the program got rid of the message.

Have you tried typing in "https://" in front of the address? I did that and it seemed to help.

It still says "Parts of this page are not secure (such as images)".

But at least it lets me log in and post without trouble.

Earlier in this thread.

But he said the site is secure already so I don't think he's in any hurry to transfer to https.

We've switched everything over to https. Please update your bookmarks and favorites to the https version.

It should no longer display the not secure message, but it might not display the locked icon on every page yet. There's still a lot of http links that need to be switched to https.

You might need to re-login. If there are any issues, please let us know.

The blog is hosted by Blogger. We might change the url or move it to another address since another SSL certificate would be needed. We had to switch the main site over first.

Are you clearing the cookies every time you are closing out your browser? I haven't heard about anybody experiencing this.

I would probably just clear your entire cookies, so the cookie to remember you is reset.

stevea

I think you hit on it. On the Mac I clear history daily, but I select today's history. Sitcoms cookies go back beyond today, so the cookies are probably "old."
