I recently discovered all seasons of UM on Amazon Prime. It's cool to see it again for the first time in well over a DECADE!

Can you all please list the scariest, spookiest, and/or creepiest UM episodes? Also the ones that will most likely never be solved? And the most mystifying missing persons cases?

I'd really appreciate it if you could please list the season number and episode number. Thanks everyone!

:thanks: :yourock:

Deborah Poe. UM didn't even include all the details, such as her being chased around by a naked man in the store a short period of time (days or weeks) before being abducted. Amazon Season 4 Episode 8.

How so? That David Berkowitz has long been captured.

It's a very creepy and disturbing segment. Whether or not he was ever captured is completely irrelevant.

Agreed. Some nights when I just want to watch something creepy, I’ll put this segment on. It’s so well done and the creep factor was dialed up to 11 big time.

Personally, I think Berkowitz acted alone. But, I’ll concede that he may have had another person helping plan the murders or even manipulate him, however that seems unlikely to me. And definitely not the large conspiracy cult murders as the segment suggests.

Season 2, episode 13. One of the creepiest ever produced. And even though it’s “solved” there are questions of if the person accused is actually guilty.

Questions that perhaps only the convicted person's immediate family has raised.

After reading several, several court documents on this case, there's not a doubt in my mind Frank Casteel is the one who murdered those three men.

The ATV murders segment should spook you out no matter what age you are.

When I first saw that segment as a nine year old, I was pretty freaked out when it finished. I then changed the channel to a sitcom that was popular at the time, 'My 2 Dads,' (which starred Paul Reiser) thinking that maybe if I saw something funny, it would make it easier for me to go to bed. But no. The damage had already been done. I couldn't get that image of the three men on ATVS riding off into the woods and being stopped by some man with a rifle out of my head.

Creepy, huh? Here are some murder/unexplained death cases that still give me the chills.

Angela Hammond, girl abducted from phone booth. I don't remember/can't find what season it is, but it was one of the earlier ones.

Kurt Sova, Season 1, Episode 9

Boys on the Tracks, Season 1, Episode 5

Season 1, Episode 21
Lil' Miss Murder
Audrey Moate

Signal Mountain ATV Murders--already mentioned.

"Carol" Season 2, Episode 14

Las Cruces Bowling Alley Murders, Season 2, Episode 19

The woman who was stalked on the highway by a "good Samaritan." I can't remember her name. That one was creeeeepy and the guy was caught for another crime, and while he was #1 suspect, they didn't have enough on him...

Remember Robert Stack saying "they were blown apart by shotgun blasts"? I've not seen that episode in DECADES but YES it's very EERIE and creepy! :eek2:

I just saw that today. 3 female convenience store clerks at different times & locations were kidnapped & murdered. Only 1 has been solved.

I wonder why they made that guy who was at the cash register just after Debbie disappeared look Native American? They never said he was though.

But it's been decades so it's unlikely they'll solve it unless we get a confession. You why they never mentioned the surveillance camera footage??

The Ethel Kidd one - where she was tied to a tree after she was killed. Law enforcement believed she was kept on ice for a few days after she was killed, too.

Without a doubt, the Blind River rest stop murders and Angela Hammond.

There is a small part of me that has hope these will be solved at some point.

I honestly didn’t realize there was a “controversy” on this one at all. I looked it up before posting to be certain and found what I typed on the UM wiki. I had not heard anything other than an arrest had been made at some point.

Yes, that's the one.

Another creepy segment: Phillip Frazier. The composite of the "crazy man" still creeps me out.

ETA, another one: Rachel Timmerman disappearance aka Marvin Gabrion is a psycho. It was one of the later seasons; aired in the late 90s. This one is one I can't rewatch, but you want creepy, there you go.

When I was a kid I was always absolutely terrified of the Ghost segments but after I became an adult I'm more terrified of the murderers that are still out there.

This part always got to me: https://i.imgflip.com/btkat.gif

Zodiac/Unabomber connection.

While I don’t think the Unabomber was the Zodiac, the similarities are interesting, and it does detail the Zodiac Killer’s crimes which will probably never be solved.

Queen Mary & the Tatum's are the ones that absolutely will creep me if I am watching them alone at night. None of the "true crime" segments do that to me. Just those 2.

The Zodiac case has always been an interest of mine, it also creeps me out that he got away and could still be out there (albeit he'd probably be a senior citizen right now)

I would not be surprised at all to see the Zodiac case solved, given the fact that they have DNA evidence from the killer and what LE is doing with what labs like Parabon is able to do these days. They are currently working on it and it's only a matter of time before we get the news that they have a 100% match, IMO. Of course, the suspect will likely be deceased by now but at least the truth will be out.

The supernatural-type ones never bugged me - I'm too cynical to buy in to most of it.

There were 3 that really bugged me - they stayed with me and I could never shake them. Thankfully, with time, all 3 were eventually solved. I don't know seasons, etc, but all 3 were early season eps because I was in high school when the show premiered, and these cases were all high school or college era for me.

1) The murder of the Rogers family women. The killer (Oba Chandler) was thankfully caught eventually, was put to death, and they've since linked him with at least one other murder, and will likely find more. It likely didn't help that I knew a family that looked like them (shockingly similar) and they would have been trusting enough to accept a boat ride from a friendly stranger.

2) The murder of Lisa Marie Kimmell (L'il Miss). It was through another show that I learned her case was finally solved. It shook me to the core to see them digging up her car on Dale Eaton's property. Sadly, he has ties to other cases too, and may be a serial killer. The one thing I don't get is that I've seen interviews with her mom (and she participated on a few forums I belonged to over the years), and she says that she and Lisa worked together out of state, and often traveled together, but this time Lisa wanted to pick up her boyfriend on the way home, and her car was only a 2 seater. But the Wikipedia article says she was working at Arby's, so that doesn't make much sense, unless it was some sort of higher level management type thing, because I couldn't see working at Arby's being lucrative enough to warrant working that far away (it was an over 8 hour drive from Denver CO to Billings MT).

3) The murder of Wendy Camp. I never bought Chad Noe's mom's explanation of what happened to her, and to see the photo of the skeletal remains in the ground on their property was just sickening, even all these years later. Now she can sit in jail and do all of her bitchin' and moanin' there. It's disgusting enough to want to kill her (especially considering she was handicapped), but to kill the innocent child and the sister-in-law on top of it just took it to a whole new level of sickness. May they burn in hell.

You can't go wrong with the first 3 seasons.
Off of the top of my head:
-Dale Kerstetter (those CCTV scenes!)
-Don Henry & Kevin Ives (unidentified man in fatigues!)
-Patricia Meehan (Mirror Selfie & march into nothingness)
-Dexter Stefonek (that Hot Jock inscription!)
-Bill Henderson (that police artist's sketch!)
-Beverly McGowan (that police artist's sketch!/re-enactment!)
-Philip Frasier (witness reenactment/testimony!)
-San Mateo Arsonist (raw footage/80s satanic panic!)
-Tallman Ghost (Don't pick a fight with "ghosts"!)
-Signal Mountain Murders (that re-enactment! Green-fly!)
-Cindy James (creepy, even if she did it herself)

That family is more messed up then we'll ever truly know. Beverly's husband being found brutally stabbed to death in his garage in 1980 and her going to jail for it for a couple years is already more proof to add to the pile. I'd love to know how she got released.

And Ida informing her brother to sprinkle black salt over the burial site because dogs wouldn't be able to pick up the scent...that's not something you know after killing once. Just think of how many other bodies they might have buried on the Prewitt property over the years.

Beverly Noe may be the person I hated most on UM who was never interviewed on camera.

Oh yeah definitely and the fact that they murdered a little girl who was only 6 and buried her the Noe family shouldn't just be put in prison but under it.
