View Full Version : Whitesnake new album
1960'sTVfan 03-24-2019, 11:04 AM David Coverdale's band Whitesnake is scheduled to release a new album in May titled "Flesh & Blood". I think this might have potential to be a good album, maybe worth checking out once it's released. I have Whitesnake's "Forevermore" album/CD from 2011 and it's pretty good.
I have to say though that I think the best period of Whitesnake were the early years, late 1970's to early 1980's, when they played melodic hard rock with a blues edge. Those early Whitesnake albums are awesome. Then in later years, Coverdale turned Whitesnake into a hair metal band :p. For example, I prefer the original version of the song "Here I Go Again" from the Saints & Sinners album compared to the re-recorded version a few years later which became a hit.
dakert 03-25-2019, 10:26 AM Hi retro, speaking of Whitesnake I went to youtube to hear the only other song I heard "Slide It In" I was wondering if you could name an early song that I would enjoy after the first hearing? haha youtube promptly suggested White Lion.

1960'sTVfan 03-26-2019, 11:04 PM Two songs from the forthcoming new album can currently be listened to on YouTube, and to be honest I'm not really impressed with either one of them. Too bad, but I'll wait until I can sample all of the songs on the album before commenting about it. Since Whitesnake became a "hair metal" band in 1987, the songwriting overall just hasn't been that good. So I'll always prefer the original Whitesnake that played melodic hard rock with a bluesy edge.

I linked one. What’s the other one?

I can't see the one you linked, maybe some issue with my computer, but the two songs from the new album that can currently be listened to on YouTube are- Shut Up & Kiss Me, and Trouble Is Your Middle Name.

In post #7 I put Trouble Is Your Middle Name. Here I'll put Shut And Kiss Me (hopefully everyone can see it). But I'll agree with your review. Both songs are kind of boringly generic.

Exactly, that's basically my opinion also. Generic "hair metal" sound, nothing special. The late 70's/early 80's Whitesnake is a lot better.
