View Full Version : Could TAC have worked without Vicky's father?
JackJanetChrissy 03-16-2019, 07:15 PM Her father was way too overbearing and terrible. What if the third character had been Larry, or Angelino?
Another thing...in the original British "Robin's Nest" Robin (who is the American Jack Tripper) asked Vicky's father to help him go into business, and the father agreed because he realized Robin was a great chef. Whereas in TAC Vicky's father bought out Angelino and basically took over in an effort to run Jack out of business. Why they made Bradford so totally unlikable is beyond me.

Yes, Larry and Angelino would have been so much better. I hated her father and his character was so unnecessary since Jack hated him and vicky was a grown woman. Larry was his friend and Angelino was someone he did business with. They made bradford part of the show by buying the bistro which is why the show failed
TV Guy 03-16-2019, 09:04 PM The supporting characters on TAC sucked. The female lead was so dull and the actress was so wooden. And then they took a fine actor like Robert Mandan and wasted him in a completely unlikeable role.

Yes she was a plain jane
JackJanetChrissy 03-17-2019, 12:37 PM What I hated about Vicky is that she never stood up to her father. Her lack of spine made Jack look like a total fool. Not sure why he stayed with her because I could not take that BS.

Mr. Bradford made the Ropers spinoff more watchable:lol:
AMackII 03-17-2019, 03:14 PM Without Vicky’s Father, Three’s A Crowd could lasted for 2 seasons unless if the Both Season 1 & 2 gets picked up in Syndication

But even without him they probably would have added a kid and it would have been Jack the dad and a family man which would not have worked with true TC fans

Too true. And I bet they would have done the angle where she gets pregnant and they get married because they **have** to. Then it would have basically been like every other family sitcom.

Yup which is why they should have ended TC with all them starting their new lives.........OFF SCREEN:lol:
Duster76 03-17-2019, 08:26 PM I agree with TV Guy, Vicky's father is not the issue, it's the inexplicably ponderous casting of Mary Cadorette as Vicky. The center of this show is the couple, Jack and Vicky, and there is zero chemistry between the performers. This is obvious from her initial appearance on Three Is Company, so how could a mistake like this be made.
Heenan Fan 03-17-2019, 09:00 PM Yeah, Vicky was the problem, not her dad. But the biggest problem was the ridiculous writing and lack of compelling characters. I love Threes Company, but TAC was horrendous. We are suppose to believe Jack's Bistro is run by just Jack and EZ?!! Just a horrible show.

EZ maybe the weirdest sitcom character of all time:lol:

Should have brought Felipe back. lol
TVFactFan 03-17-2019, 10:38 PM Should have brought Felipe back. lol
Felipe or Larry lol But since the producers didn't want the show to be anything like TC why not have Jack open a new restaurant once TAC started so it wouldn't be any links to TC?
SitcomsHeydayfan 03-18-2019, 12:30 AM No. You needed him as a foil to Jack. Unless they found someone else but then it would've been a very different show.

Totally agree!
Felipe was the funniest character on the show only next to Jack Tripper! I always wondered how a Felipe sitcom would have gone because he really was that funny!.
