In the episode where Florida is in the hospital for removal of Gallbladder, James goes to reception desk and ask for a TV so Florida could watch Redd Foxx on TV while recuperating.

James was definitely referring to Sanford and Son which was on the air at that time. And the only thing from Redd Foxx that can be shown on TV that was not rated triple XXX :D

I always thought he was talking about the comedian and not the sitcom he starred on at the time. Plus CBS wasn't going to promote a show on another network so I think it was him the comedian. I am surprised he was even mentioned since sanford and son was on the air at the time

In “The Commercial” episode, when Florida was
chosen to do the commercial for Vita Brite, she originally didn’t want to lie about the product, but her family tries to convince her it’s all acting. Thelma contributed by saying “Do you think Redd Foxx makes his living selling junk?”

Yeah I remember that and it was weird. Promoting a show that was a hit while your show is in season 1 lol

Forgot about that one. That definitely leave no doubt that when talking about Redd Foxx, they were referring to Sanford&Son.

Since Norman Lear was producer of both shows, I am surprise the network executives (CBS) let him to get away with promoting Sanford&Son since that show was on another network (NBC).

I forgot he was involved with sanford and son so now it makes sense why a NBC show was mentioned on a CBS show
