Well they still made Erica similar to Eric, they just wanted a girl to give some female storylines

I wouldn't say she's a pointless character at all. Yes her storylines as of now are kinda sporadic. But she's scheduled to appear on Schooled for the 10 Year Class Reunion episode. I think the character will continue to grow as time goes on. From the Schooled preview it looks like she ended up marrying Geoff Schwartz. So eventually we might see more episodes revolve around the Erica character. If any characters have become "stale." I would say it's ones like Jackie. Especially with the recasting with Alexis taking over. Now that character has become pointless in ways.
