Hey, no fair! This is recent---I thought it was gonna be a vintage interview. :(

But still, nice of you to share---I'll check it out later.

This was neat, thanks---and she was SO cute when she brought up the teepees in the background! I too saw the "hands" before she even said it! (I mean, I knew they were teepees, but still saw the "hands", lol)

The teepee hand things are weird. I'm glad she mentioned how weird they are.

I adore this Molly interview because she seems so down to earth. So the opposite of her "Getting the Pretty Back" persona.

Black, brown, red, blonde... yep, through the years, Molly's had a lot of different hair colors.

So I just discovered that Molly was nominated for a Golden Freaking Globe for this 1982 film "The Tempest". A Golden Globe!

Man, I bet when she heard news of her nomination she thought "HA! Take that, 'Facts'! You wanted to cut me?? It's your loss now!!" 🖕

Ya know, that probably just added fuel to the fire of her bitterness over the show. I mean, here she is now 15, just a few years after her "Facts" humiliation, and she has been nominated for one of the most prestigious acting awards in Hollywood. For her first movie.

That must have been extremely validating to her that not only can she act, she can act her ass off, better than most girls auditioning for things out there (I'm pretending to be in her head, lol). And it must have made her even more bitter at the thought that those producers didn't think she cut enough mustard to stick with an ensemble show.

Maybe we have the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to thank for Molly's steely nearly 40-year silence about "Facts"! lol

I think it was, as you say, definitely vindication for her: under good direction, with the right material, she could get a Golden Globe nomination. She'd never have to do a raisin commercial ever again, with that kind of recognition. And once she had a GG nom, she could land other major roles... and she soon did, and became a household name.

You could be right. Molly never needed to look back after landing huge film roles. And for many years, she... simply did not. I'm so glad she has, though, because a part of my heart broke when Molly's heart broke at being purged from the cast of FOL.

Yes, 4 parts of our hearts are with 4 girls from Eastland...[sigh]...

As I recall in The Tempest, Miranda (Molly's character) said something like "So long, Tootie". It was a weird movie.

The Tempest was taped in the fall of 1981 so we would know what Molly Parker would have looked like if she stayed at Eastland and hung out with her former housemates for the one episode she probably would have appeared in the 3rd season (which is all the other lost girls got).

She shedded the bow hair cut in favor of a pixie hair cut.

But Molly would do avacado (from Mexico) almost 40 years later.

I wonder if the Tootie line was one of the things (there were probably many) that caused Warren Littlefield to call Molly out by name ("Bye Molly") in that one documentary. He clearly did not like her. I just thought it was rather cruel and immature to mock an actress who took the firing very hard as a 12 year old. Even when Molly was in her mid 30s when that documentary aired.

Yeah, he specifically says, "It was like, 'Goodbye, Molly!' "

And he says it with too much relish.

She did!

In addition to the episodes she was already in, at the very least, I would have put her in "Breaking Point" (2-10), "The Four Musketeers" (3-16), "Read No Evil" (3-24), "FOL Goes to Paris" (4-M), "The Source" (4-02), "Graduation, Part 2" (4-24), and "Brave New World, Part 2" (5-02).

The reason I picked The Four Musketeers is because I think Blair should have gone back to Sue Ann, and then decided she'd rather stay with her Core Four friends. I picked "Breaking Point" because I think the scene where they talk about the election would have been better with an actual election being shown, with actual students other than the Core Four and Cynthia, and Sue Ann seems an obvious choice to support Blair.

The reason I picked "Read No Evil" and "The Source" is because we know Sue Ann was in the journalism classes, and Sue Ann would have been nice to throw into the abortion episode. I picked "Paris" because we briefly see other random students on the trip to Paris, and it would be better with a girl we had seen before.

I picked "Brave New World 2" because it would have been nice to see a familiar face purchasing quiche in Mrs. Garrett's shop. And of course Sue Ann needed to be at her own graduation ceremony, in "Graduation 2". These small touches of continuity would have helped Eastland feel more like a real school, with semi-regular students.

Only for the sake of the continued friendship between the Core Four. If there's an insistence there can only be a Core Four, well, then, Sue Ann can still make appearances that are logical. She and Blair were frenemies for a long time; once Mrs. Garrett's punishment of the girls was over, it would have been only natural for Blair to at least try hanging out with her old friends, Sue Ann being the most obvious choice.

But as we saw in "The Four Musketeers", the bond between the Core Four was very strong, now.

I think so, too; I mean, think of all the memories they had: three years of track races and harvest fairs, inappropriate lingerie, designer dresses, book reports and poetry assignments, helping their adopted friend, marijuana, and rice pudding. And even after the Cast Purge, there were still dances, gossip, and journalism classes.

I'm just saying if the producers and the network insisted on isolating the Core Four in most episodes, we could have at least gotten Sue Ann for three episodes per season during the Eastland years.
