Finally!!! Hope they use the original “Soul Man” theme song!

I was never too big on this show. I remember liking the first season but not watching it too much once they revamped it and moved it to Fridays. However, I was going to buy the first season DVD but hadn't done so. Then it looked like it might have been abandoned, so I wasn't about to buy it then (as I don't like having partial series on DVD - I want it all!). Now with the second season coming out, I may go ahead and start collecting this series.

The season 2 episodes on Amazon have the seasons 3-5 theme song so I’m a little worried WB couldn’t get the rights to “Soul Man”. Hopefully the DVD release will be different.

That doesn't look very promising, but hopefully they use the "Soul Man" theme. What was the first season's theme song, and it on the DVD? I think the only one I remember is the seasons 3-5 version.

Season 1’s theme was performed by En Vogue and it was on the DVD release.

Season 2’s theme was “Soul Man” performed by Howard Hewett.

I sent WB an email about the theme and they replied with this...not good news:

Based on our records the theme song for Hangin' with Mr. Cooper: The Complete Second Season is "Cooper, Cooper", performed by Sherwood Ball.

I wasn't a fan of the show but bought the first season. I might get season 2 down the line.

Has anyone bought season 2? I’m still curious if “Soul Man” was used as the theme song.

Got my season 2 copy today. I can confirm that the theme song is not “Soul Man”. It’s the same theme song that was used for seasons 3-5. Bummer.

I wonder when the fourth and final season will be in stores. The third was released in January of last year.
