Denise Richards Joins the Cast of "The Bold and the Beautiful" — All About her Role

Denise Richards is adding another acting credit to her lengthy resume.

PEOPLE can exclusively announce that Richards is joining the cast of CBS’s "The Bold and the Beautiful". The actress, who recently joined season 9 of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", has landed the contract role of Shauna Fulton.




“Shauna is a fun-loving, hard-working single mother from Las Vegas who aspires to live life to its absolute fullest,” executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell tells PEOPLE. “She heads for Los Angeles when she learns that her daughter, Florence ‘Flo’ (Katrina Bowden), the pride and joy of her life, is entangled in a complicated situation. However, Shauna’s involvement won’t stop there. She’s got a past and big secrets to spill.”

Richards begins taping Friday, and her first episode airs April 3.

"I had never done a soap before and I think every actor needs to do one because we shoot 2 episodes a day. I am shocked at how many pages I can memorize, we're very fast paced.

I think on my first day shooting 'B&B' I had 50 pages of dialogue to memorize, we shot 3 episodes that day. I had such anxiety after all of my years working."

Denise Richards Returns to B&B after 4-year Hiatus

Denise Richards is looking to bring some trouble back to Los Angeles.

After a four-year hiatus, the actress is making her return as Shauna Fulton on "The Bold and the Beautiful" in an episode airing Thursday.




In a conversation with PEOPLE ahead of stepping back into the world of the CBS soap, Richards had nothing but good things to say about getting back to work with her former costars.

"It's nice to be back," Richards told Entertainment Weekly's sister outlet. "It feels like I never left. It's such a great family environment, and I love my character. She likes to cause a little trouble."




The veteran actress noted that while it can be intimidating working on a set "where people have worked together for so long," the vibes on the set are very different.

"Everyone's just very embracing and very supportive," she added. "The actors I was working with made it so much easier to step back in."
