Does anyone know where June and Ward went the night Beaver called the cops. June said they were invited to a party. More friends the Cleavers have.

They talked about some party early in the episode. I'm surprised the Rutherfords weren't at it.

Here's my questions:

1. When the police came wouldn't they normally knock on the door and check with the person who called?

2. When Ward lectured Beaver he told him next time he should determine the facts. Beaver should have said: A strange car was outside for a long time, with a guy who had a mask on driving the car. What other facts did I need to determine?

Off topic, from Beaver's Jacket: they were hauling the jacket up and down and it went past the kitchen window. In Larry Hides Out it the suitcase was going past the den window.

1. Yes that is usually what the cops would do. Also when Lumpy is being questioned by the cop and he's standing in the road he's still wearing that ridiculous mask. That would never happen.


2. Yes that was stupid of Ward to say that and instead of making Beaver apologize to everyone he should have gotten some credit for determining something was amiss.

I believe, but could be wrong, that when Wally is hauling up Larry's suitcase it's not the window in the bathroom but the one by the desk. When Beaver is hauling the jacket up on the rope he's in the bathroom. I find it so funny how when Beaver has been hauling the jacket up several days and finally both Ward and Wally see the jacket going up on the rope it takes Beaver almost 30 seconds to pull up the rope. It stays so long in front of the window you could read the name tag of Richard Rickover and the jacket cleaning instructions.

I also found it strange how Mrs. Rickover calls and says she just got Richard's jacket back from the cleaners and there was another jacket hanging in the closet. If June is in possession of Beaver's jacket and sewing in a name label wouldn't that have happened much much earlier....why did she wait so long to call. Why didn't she ask Richard why there were now two jackets.

Also how did she know enough to call the Cleavers about two jackets. Richard never told her the story and how did she know Beaver had a jacket just like Richard's.

Yes re Richard's jacket that final scene confused me too. I was thinking that would make three jackets since June had one right there.

Re the Long Night: Ward should have called Fred back (and Bill's father) and explained what happened. I don't think Beaver did anything wrong. Even if they weren't watching a scary movie they still should have called the cops.

If it were real, Lumpy probably would have explained it all adequately, and would have gotten a ticket or warning for not having his license. Even in those days they probably could have run a check to see that he was licensed, by radioing the desk sergeant.

Of course Eddie saved Season 6 and the end of Season 5 so maybe they needed Eddie in the episode. Lumpy probably wasn’t good at explaining but maybe Bill could have told the cops what happened since he wasn’t wearing a mask.

Bill Scott or first just Scott was probably brought in to sub for Osmond, who was gone for some reason. It would have been a funny scene to see Eddie giving the cop some line of bull.

One thing I noticed: later Beaver was asking Wally about Lumpy's car color, and Wally says they painted it gray last week. When Lumpy and Bill drove up it didn't look gray.

Ken Osmond was in the Army Reserve and missed a few episodes.

Agreed; Eddie would have been a natural for some episodes.

Interesting! That's probably why the Scott/Bill Scott character was brought in for a short time.
