Larry David, once Frank Costanza got a new actor (Jerry Stiller), had the vision to re-shoot the previous season's episodes (only 1, Season 4, episode: The Handicap Spot) with Stiller, precisely for syndication.
He tried to do the same with Morty Seinfeld (with actor Barney Martin), but by then it had been 3 years since those scenes were shot, and he couldn't get the actors involved in those scenes to appear younger, among other things, which is why this "fix" only applied to Frank.
