I noticed there's a kind of stock guest character who shows up on sitcoms: the artist who thinks himself a genius and abuses everyone. I can think of at least three:

-Sergie Carpetna (Carl Reiner) who painted a nude of Laura Petrie;
-Alexandre Dubov (Harold G. Stone) who wanted to paint Ginger Grant as a Bali dancer; and,
-Phillip Semenko (Christopher Lloyd) who wanted to break up Sam and Diane.

Did other shows use this kind of character?

- Martha Paxton (Rachel Rosenthal) bald-headed narcissist who revealed to Frasier Crane that the painting he bought of hers was a forgery.

I usually like Chistopher Lloyd in everything he does, but this Phillip Semenko character was just a creepy, psychotic jerk. I didn't find him funny or entertaining.

Claude Akins plays a kind of rude, brash artist who ends up painting a mural on Hazel's bedroom wall in a 5th season episode of Hazel.

Gale Gordon plays an eccentric, very hard-to-get-along-with artist on a 7th season Danny Thomas Show episode.
