She is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, yet Grammy producers reportedly didn't want Grande to perform (https://variety.com/2019/music/news/ariana-grande-not-attending-grammys-after-disagreements-with-producers-1203129734/) her new single, “7 Rings." With Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Childish Gambino also not expected to perform, Sunday's ceremony will be short on star power. "It is mystifying that the Grammys wouldn’t let her do literally whatever she wants, especially given that what she wanted to do was perform the no. 1 song in the country," says Rob Harvilla. He adds: "The Grammys have no feel for rap, R&B, and upper-echelon pop, and consequently have been bleeding credibility and goodwill for years. It is genuinely impressive that this situation keeps getting worse...This was supposed to be the year the Grammys figured it out, or at least radically shook things up in a tacit acknowledgment that they still don’t have it figured out. Instead, prepare yourself for, like, five separate Sting duets with random, ridiculous people, all punctuated by an Album of the Year victory for Post Malone. It’s music’s biggest night, after all. It is also, reliably, the dumbest." I have never figured out why in the world The Grammys even exist and I don't know why it's a big deal every February next to the Super Bowl. Was this show created to make singers sell more records or was it to make new singers even more popular? When I have seen The Grammy Awards I have never figured out why it's so special. Another annoying thing I have never understood about The Grammys is why do they have tributes to singers that are still alive when tributes should be for singers that are no longer alive. I think due to Ariana Grande not performing in The Grammy Awards the ratings will be low and Ariana Grande should be there because she is popular and what I think The Grammy Awards should do is have a top singer perform a hit song like when Whitney Houston performed the Olympics anthem One Moment In Time in 1989. But if you look at The Grammy Awards of the 80's to compare to The Grammy Awards of today you'll notice that the glamour of The Grammy Awards is gone forever but if The Grammys want to get big ratings next year they should be improved

Hi, Bestie! I quit watching the grammy's when the music stopped being fun and listenable. I think it is ruined forever.

Unless each artist(not named Ariana Grande) or group is trying to save it.

I just hope that Luke Combs gets the Best New Artist award. His 5th number one in a row may be just around the corner after seeing his latest song jump this week from #10 to #4 on this list here (http://charts.bdsradio.com/bdsradiocharts/charts.aspx?formatid=4). :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!!

Supposedly there’s supposed to be a Dolly Parton tribute this year so I’ll tune in for that. I’ll prob just DVR it and FF through all the other nonsense.

I just hope the Woodstock Tribute would salvage The Grammys!

Woodstock is now 50!

To me, Alison Krauss should've been a part of the Dolly tribute, but maybe the reason why she wasn't is because she herself has more Grammy awards than Dolly does. :D :D :D

God bless you and Alison always!!!

Holly (a fan of her for 25 years now)

P.S. Alison has 27 and Dolly has 8. The third song done during the tribute would've been the perfect song for Alison to sing because it is one of my Dolly favorites.

The 2019 Grammys made for some great TV, but also featured some bad optics (https://www.theringer.com/music/2019/2/11/18219951/grammys-kacey-musgraves-drake-speech-lady-gaga)

"Whether you love to hate the Grammys or hate to love them, everyone went home happy Sunday night—crawled home, maybe," says Rob Harvilla. "Music’s Biggest Night was also its longest, and most punishing and confounding, albeit spiked with bracing jolts of pure surrealist delight. After a mostly disastrous 2018 ceremony—in which only one woman won a televised solo award, the sole female Album of the Year nominee (poor Lorde) skipped the ceremony in protest, and (recording academy president Neil) Portnow mused afterward that music-biz sexism could only be conquered if women learned to 'step up'—this year’s Grammys were meant to be an explicit course correction, an apology tour, a miniseries-length do-over. It didn’t go perfectly; it arguably didn’t go particularly well. Nonetheless, the visible, flop-sweating, teeth-gritting effort, even at its most hapless, made for some lousy optics but some great television."
