View Full Version : Who were each of the girls closest to, in the Eastland years?
RetroGuy2000 02-04-2019, 06:00 AM I started thinking about this tonight. Who were each of the girls closest to, in the Eastland years? Some of these are obvious, and some not so obvious.
Blair seemed closest to Sue Ann in Season One, closest to Natalie in Season Two, and closest to Jo in Seasons Three and Four (though they were still frenemies).
Sue Ann seemed closest to either Blair or Cindy in Season One, and Cindy in Seasons Two and Three.
Cindy seemed closest to Sue Ann from Seasons One through Three.
Natalie seemed closest to Tootie during all four Eastland seasons.
Tootie seemed closest to Natalie during all four Eastland seasons.
Jo seemed closest to Tootie in Season Two, and maybe Blair in Seasons Three and Four.
Molly... this is difficult... may have been closest to... possibly Cindy?
Nancy may have been closest to Unseen Nina in Season One, and Cindy and Sue Ann in Season Two. Not sure about Season Three.
Lorimar Television 02-04-2019, 07:30 AM I agree Molly was closest to Cindy but she and Tootie have a few moments together. I’d say Nancy was somewhat close to Sue Ann. LMLD and IQ come to mind
Christopher 02-04-2019, 10:07 AM Jo seemed closest to Tootie in Season Two
You think so? There's zero Jo / Tootie episodes in the series. You've got tons of Jo / Blair episodes, a few Jo / Natalie episodes, Blair / Natalie episodes, but never a Jo / Tootie episode. I never understood why that was.
I think Blair was closet to Jo while Natalie and Tootie were the closest. That's based off the writers from what they gave us.

Good point about IQ and Nancy/Sue Ann. I don't remember much Sue Ann/Nancy interaction in LMLD... just the short 'fighting over Blair's dress' bit, where they didn't seem particularly close.

In Season Two? When Blair and Jo were fighting constantly?!

I never thought about it before, but that's the only scene in season 1 with just the 3 older girls. Nice. But they do seem close there because they squabble---and family squabbles (verb, not plural noun, lol). Their friendship is developed enough where they can do that in that way.
In season 2, I'd almost say Jo was closest to Jo. She was so guarded that first year of hers at Eastland.

I mean they were always paired together being the same age. Blair chose Jo to confide in about going out with Roger.

But not getting close yet.

Well Lorsie, she really didn't have a choice. Tootie was the "kid" and not going, Natalie was younger and inexperienced, she obviously couldn't tell Nancy, lol, and she was living away from Sue Ann who shared a home with Nancy. And besides, like Blair said, "I need something sneaky done---and you're the best." So her options were severely limited---to Jo, lol.

Did Sue Ann share a home with Nancy anymore though?

Well, in MY fan universe, that dorm is the same, just without Blair, Natalie, Tootie, and Mrs. Garrett (so, not quite "the same", but you know what I mean, lol).

Just think: with Blair, Tootie, and Natalie gone, Nancy and Nina would have finally have had their moments in the sun!

I suspect so. Why else do we see them together, and with Cindy, in both "Gossip" and "Sex Symbol"? The three of them were still clearly close in Season Two, and that's likely in part because they were still sharing a dorm.

Idk why I picture the dorms differently after season 1. To more something similar to the cafeteria

Well, the old dorm still existed: we even see the exterior in Season Nine.

True, but didn't you guys say the s1 sets weren't in continuity? Like the cafeteria in s1 you guys say wasn't the real cafeteria. Would that go for dorms too?

In my fanwanked FOL universe, the tiny cafeteria they use in S1 is just a break room that's temporarily used as the cafeteria, while the S2 cafeteria is being remodeled. It's the best way, IMO, to explain why there are two different cafeterias, one which only has, like, three tables.
Christopher 02-05-2019, 05:39 AM In Season Two? When Blair and Jo were fighting constantly?!
In Double Standard, Blair was willing to beat up a guy for Jo. In Teenage Marriage, Blair went out in the cold with Mrs. Garrett to find Jo. In Gossip, Blair felt more comfortable and trusting of Jo to confide in her what she'll be doing on the trip. So yes, I do think in season 2 Blair and Jo were closer than Jo and anyone else. It wasn't until season 4 in Ain't Miss Beholden that Blair and Jo finally admitted they were friends even though they were the previous two years

Oh Lorsie, say it ain't so! Yes, I firmly believe in the grandfather clock and the globes! :D

Good! Justice for the grandfather clocks!!!

Okay, I see your point.

How true. I mean, Jo even decides to leave Eastland in TM, for a guy she's known for almost no time. Would she really do that if she had lasting friendships with the other girls?

From my point of view:
On season 1: BLAIR was closest to MRS G who becomes her confidant (probably due to the fact that she didn't have any real friends until JO arrived), NATALIE + TOOTIE, NANCY is a loner and so is MOLLY, and CINDY + SUE ANN are the best of friends.
Season 2 onward will always be: JO + BLAIR and NAT + TOOTIE as best friends:happyface along their beloved nutritionist and confidante, MRS G!

You really think Blair and Sue Ann weren't real friends? Blair confides in Sue Ann in "Flash Flood", "The Facts of Love", "Like Mother Like Daughter", and "Dope", at the very least.

Yes, they may have had a rivalry but they were still friends.
