Anyone ever wonder about the actual meaning of "Leave It to Beaver"? Normally, when you say "leave it to me" or "leave it to (fill in the blank)" it implies that the person will take care of things or do the job. That doesn't seem to fit with Beaver. My personal feeling is that the writers were simply going for a catchy title with a rhyme in it.

The show was originally going to be called "Beaver and Wally," but they were afraid audiences would think it was a nature program.

Right, as in leave it to Beaver to get into some kind of trouble.
