I did a time study on a Three's Company episode on Antenna TV. I don't know if they sped up the entire episode but I got 21:23 for the episode, including the closing credit crunch. Local stations used to show them at 22:00. I can tell the theme is sped up, but I am wondering if they are speeding up the syndicated episodes. Anyone notice this? Thank God for my actual uncut DVDs!!

I don't know how they could "speed up" the actual episode without it being noticeable. I think they just cut. I think it depends on how many commercials they need to cram in, so they cut accordingly. Most TC episodes were originally 25 minutes long with both beginning and end credits, so even the 22 minutes is a huge cut. I caught an episode on Logo a while back and was kind of shocked at how chopped it was.

I just had another thought...what episode were you watching? If it was Season 4's "Ralph's Rival," that episode was already shorter than normal because there was no tag scene. That could account for the time difference.

You can kind of tell the syndicated episodes are sped up. It was Jack The Giant Killer.

Wow. I knew they cut the episodes but had no idea they actually sped them up. I just did a search and there's even an article about it: https://lifehacker.com/network-television-stations-speed-up-tv-shows-to-fit-in-1797131517

Seems like they will do anything to fit in commercials.

The closing credits and closing theme are very noticeably sped up on Antenna TV.

You can speed them up a little bit without people noticing. If you sped them up a lot it would sound like they're all on helium gas!
