R. Kelly Dropped by Sony Music

Sony Music has decided to dissolve its working relationship with R. Kelly, Variety has learned.

No external announcement of the move is planned in the immediate future, says a source, who added that the company took its time to wade through the issues “responsibly” and avoid legal ramifications.

R. Kelly was removed from the RCA Records website, which lists the label’s signed artists, shortly after 10 a.m. PT on Friday, Jan. 18.

Kelly’s back catalog will remain with RCA/Sony. Kelly’s last release with the label was a Christmas-themed album in 2016, although he has released several songs independently since that time, presumably with Sony’s consent, and Tweeted earlier this year that he has a new album on the way.

Contacted by Variety, reps for both RCA Records and its parent company, Sony Music, declined comment.

Good riddance. R. Kelly's been getting away with this garbage for way too long. Throw him in prison already!

I have never figured out how in the world R. Kelly has become one of the top singers in R&B music because it seems that he has become one of R&B music's idols. When he came out in 1992 R. Kelly became a bonafide star with the release of his first single Vibe he was on the road to stardom and when he released the album 12 Play in 1994 he continued to release more singles and was considered one of R&B's top role models for upcoming male singers in soul music but when R. Kelly started singing songs with adult suggestive content and profanity this type of R&B music proved that R. Kelly was changing his image from the gentlemanly handsome guy to a more tough streetwise guy. But I think what really was shocking and is still surprising to me is why on earth did R. Kelly get involved with the late Aaliyah and Aaliyah ended up marrying him for a short time? That I think caused R. Kelly's career to go downhill and that's why he adopted this new image to attract fans to buy his music. But if it wasn't for the songs I Believe I Can Fly from Space Jam and The World's Greatest from the movie Ali it jumpstarted R. Kelly's music career and he became a star again. But I think due to this scandal and all his other troubles I can predict that R. Kelly will end up like Bobby Brown and R. Kelly's career will go belly up and one day he's gonna end up like Whitney Houston and pass away. But I'll never understand why people want to buy a lot of R. Kelly's albums? I cannot even figure out why people like his songs too. I think it's because R. Kelly thinks he is now the new king of R&B music now

I agree with Bestie. R Kelly is just good for publicity. He sucks as an entertainer. I think people watch him for the same reason they stare at car wrecks.

Just pull his music from all of the streaming services already. Might as well.
