I was surprised to look up Richard Deacon and see his birth year of 1921. That means in the first season of LITB he was - 36(!) He always seemed like he was well into his forties to me. Hard to believe Hugh Beaumont was 12 years older than him - it seemed like the other way around!

Wasn't there an episode where Fred told Ward about a bunch of kids calling him "skinhead"?

Right--it might have been a season 3 episode. Fred had walked over to the Cleavers', rather than Ward picking him up, to go to work. He told Ward some kid had called him skinhead.
This was incidental conversation in the episode, so I don't remember which one it was. Maybe someone else will.

That’s when he invites Ward and the family to Friends Lake for some fishing. He had invited a prominent citizen but they were out of town so the Cleavers could come and the weekend wouldn’t be a total loss. It was Beaver and Violet. The only time Fred sits at a kitchen table or dinner table at Cleavers. He does sit at a card table.

Good ol' Fred, the VIP. I think he also reveled in the fact the Cleavers weren't invited to the Langley wedding, the event of the season.
There was also an episode where Ward said to Fred, June checked with Gwen, and you're busy Thurs. nite. His reply, We must get together sometime. This was probably the one where they're working, and Fred sees the boys rolling the tire down the street (they look like your two, Ward.)
Here's a new name for Beaver and Violet: Don't Kiss Me, You Fool

Fred was forever saying "We must get together sometime" to Ward and June, something which rarely if ever happened. Once he said "You're our favorite people, you know."

We often hear that Ward and June are headed to the Rutherfords but never really see them over there. In Beaver’s Tree they’re late going to the Rutherfords and June wonders why Ward isn’t wearing a tie and Ward says last time he got dressed up Fred was wearing Bermuda shorts. Another time June would say Ward can’t help Beaver with his math they have a bridge date with Fred and Gwen. (Beaver’s Report Card) I think they often say they are going to the Rutherfords like Wally is taking Mary Ellen Rogers to the movies. Another episode is Beaver Takes a Drive when they get a ride with another couple.
