Yeah I corrected it. Almost Home was a spin off of the Torkelsons. They move to Seattle and dump 2 of the kids. It was funny and lived only 11 or 13 episodes.

BulletTrain 08-19-2002, 11:29 PM Yeah buddies was a spinoff of Home Improvement, and yes it was only on for a month. Heres some info on it.
Well in one episode, in the Tool Time audience were a couple of "buddies" by the names of Dave Carlisle and John Butler. This was ABC chance to introduce the two characters to an audience before they started appearing in their own show which was to be titled Buddies. Dave was a black guy and was played by comedian Dave Chappelle. John was a white guy and he was played by comedian Jim Breuer. The idea was that they had been best friends since they were kids.
But after their "debut" on Home Improvement, there were problems with their own show, as evidenced by the fact that almost a full year passed between the Home Improvement episode and the premiere of Buddies. They kept reworking the show and Jim Breuer was replaced by Christopher Gartin as John. Nice. The whole point of the crossover was to build momentum for the show and to get people hooked on the buddies' relationship. Then they totally defeated the purpose of it by waiting a year to put the new show on the air AND they replaced half of the comedy team.
Buddies actually ended up flopping pretty quickly and becoming nothing more than a TV footnote. The actual show was about the buddies living in Chicago (Home Improvement was set in Michigan) and running a video production business. After so much elaborate/disasterous tinkering that Tim Taylor himself would be proud, in the end the show came and went in a month's time.

Yes it was. As a matter of fact, the spinoff only made a pilot episode and wasn't picked up by NBC.

In 1977, they made a script about four families living in a California cul-de-sac. They called it "Knots Landing." They decided to turn that idea into "Dallas." In 1978, "Dallas" premiered. It all started with the middle Ewing brother, Gary, coming back and remarrying his ex wife Valene. In 1979, Gary's mother, Eleanor Southworth Ewing aka Miss Ellie, bought Gary and Valene a house in that California cul-de-sac, and "Knots Landing" was born. "Knots Landing" premiered on December 27, 1979, and featured guest appearances by many "Dallas" cast members in cluding Barbara Bel Geddes (Miss Ellie), Larry Hagman (JR Ewing), and Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing). Plus, Lucy Ewing (Charlene Tilton) was a "Dallas" characters, but was the daughter of Gary (Ted Shackleford) and Valene (Joan Van Ark). "Knots Landing" was about four couples in Seaview Circle, a California cul-de-sac. The couples were Gary and Valene Ewing, Sid and Karen Fairgate, Laura and Richard Avery, and Ginger and Kenny Ward. Sid died and Karen married Mack MacKenzie (Kevin Dobson), making her name Karen Fairgate MacKenzie. Now next time, Sitcomwriter, don't fool with a devoted fan unless you are stating the truth. I mean Ultimate Dallas and Knots Landing Net are two CONNECTED sites, aren't they?
