Tonight's the first Saturday night of the new schedule with the great classics shoved to after midnight in favor of 3 hours of Three's Company (OVERPLAYED!), Barney Miller (Good show, but it's on 5X week at 9pm already), and Soap (GAG, PUKE, UGH!).

So, to fans who enjoyed tuning into the Saturday classics for the past year, will you continue tuning in or go somewhere else now?

As for me, I bought "The Bionic Woman" complete series and the first few seasons of "The Love Boat" on DVD and will watch a couple episodes of each series every Saturday night now. (both shows I haven't seen in ages, so it will be fun to revisit them again.)

Hopefully when i'm through with them, Antenna TV will have brought my Saturday night classics back. I mean really....how much of Threes Company can one take before being sick to death of Jack Tripper?!

I prefer “Three’s Company” over “The Bionic Woman”.

I’m not really a fan of “Barney Miller”.

In my opinion, “Soap” is a show that is only good once.

Watch Svengoolie on Me-TV at 8pm. Classic Universal and Columbia movies.

I can't get Me-TV. I used to pull it in with my antenna, but a couple of years ago, it suddenly stopped showing and never came back.

I agree they are WAY overplaying Three's Company. Not a Barney Miller Fan.

Anyone who prefers a mind numbing sitcom over a good one hour drama is easily entertained. Sitcoms tend to dumb people down.

Plus I find most sitcoms to be boring. I'll take a good drama like "The Bionic Woman" over a mind numbing sitcom any day.

Back around 2012 or so I watched Svengoolie every Saturday night. I worked overnight shifts back then and didn't have to be at work till midnight, so i'd watch that before leaving for work. Loved it until I couldn't get the channel anymore.

To be fair, this site isn't just dedicated to sitcoms. It also includes one hour drama shows and soap operas too. And while there are many intelligent sitcoms out there (none made today), I do agree that Bionic Woman is preferred over a mind numbing sitcom like Three's Company.

Definitely not in the 9PM hour. I watched Jack Benny most weeks there, Soap is a very poor downgrade.

Barney Miler never gets old. It would have worked well if they followed an hour of Barney with an hour of Benny and Burns.Jack Benny deserves more than one episode in primetime, he should get a full hour too. I liked the 2016 New Year's Eve marathon where it was all Benny and not split up with Burns and Allen like previous years.

The dvd complete series of that show is on my list to get. I haven't seen those episodes since I was a kid and can't wait to view them again.

I see that they've moved Johnny Carson to 4 am-must have been doing pretty bad in the ratings.

It's been said LOTS of times on here and on other forums-Antenna TV needs to stop that horrible credit crunch. I don't even watch them anymore for that reason. Shame; they have a lot of shows I'd like to see; and they used to be one of the better "retro-channels".

I think that's just a repeat showing of the 10PM episode. It must still be popular if they moved it back to 10PM hour from 11:30.

But I noticed they're still replaying the same episodes from when they started showing it in 2016 so i'm not tuning in and watching my DVD's instead.

If they ever get new episodes, then i'll watch Carson again. They have 20 freaking years of shows to choose from but for some reason or other, they can't or won't add any new ones to the same block they've been airing for the last 3 years.

I know I’m probably the odd ball but I like the New Saturday Night line up.

I have to work every Saturday from 4pm-12AM or 4pm-1AM. So it’s nice to come home from work and see the older TV series on at night it came off like NICK at NITE was back in the 80’s early 90’s.

I felt the Paul Lynd Show was like The Monkees type of Show.As Lotsa Luck came across as Barney Miller/ All In The Family type of show.

It's nice to see someone is getting a benefit out of it, so I guess the change is a bright side for the night owls who enjoy the classics. I never thought there would be people who can only tune in during those later hours so in that perspective, rotation of schedules every so often can be a good thing so everybody's happy.

I still miss having them air early evening hours, but I can deal. I watched my DVD's last night and really enjoyed seeing "The Love Boat" again after many years. So i'll watch that every Sat. night now.

I agree about Lotsa Luck. When I first watched it last year I too thought it had an "All in the Family" feel to it. It aired in 1973 so perhaps they were aiming for another AITF type show but without all the political-ness.

Thank you for understanding. I really think the West Coast Schedule makes out pretty good Saturday Nights. As the older Series airs Saturday Nights
8:30pm-6AM. As oppose to me and others who lives on the east coast when the Saturday night classics air 11:30pm-9AM.

I see that they've moved Johnny Carson to 4 am-must have been doing pretty bad in the ratings. The 4AM episode is a secondary encore of what now airs in primetime. With these 2019 changes, Johnny Carson airs in primetime 7 nights a week at 10PM, so it is far away from a ratings disaster.

To answer the actual question, no. When I realize how Three's Company is a one-joke premise, and how overplayed it's been over the last 30 years, it makes my decision easier.

It's that one joke premise that makes it not hold up as well as other classic sitcoms. Sure it's a riot to watch the first couple of times around, but it doesn't have that timeless quality of other shows you can view dozens of times over and never tire of it.

I don't know why Three's Company seems to be Antenna TV's precious darling and crown jewel the way they play them so much. Either they're just bonkers over it and think we are too, or they're getting some kind of financial incentive to shove it in our faces during prime viewing hours.

If it were up to me, i'd place it forever at 4am along with that insufferable Roper's abomination.

(So it's the 2nd week now without my Saturday night Antenna TV classics lineup and i'm quite enjoying my Bionic Woman & Love Boat DVD's in it's place, so I don't even miss it anymore now!)

I've tried to just ignore the credit crunch but I just can't.

But the show is over by then, I honestly don't get how it affects the viewing of the tv show? Most people tune out or get up when the credits begin rolling. I never heard of people who sit through the entire show looking forward to the end credits. No offense intended, but I just find it weird.

I totally agree !! I could see in the old days before the internet if you wanted to see what the actor/ actors names were who had just guest starred. But now with the internet you can look up the ep. On IMDB And find out online!!;) So I really don't see at all why the ending credits are so important and why a few people here on SO have such a hatred for it that it keeps them from watching shows they like!:(

And not only that. The end credits (and opening credits) for just about every show out there are up on You Tube to view as many times as you like. I just don't get how it takes anything away from the viewing experience of a particular show.

The ONLY case where I can understand the crunch hate is if there's an extra end scene playing while the closing credits roll. Off the top of my head, I remember Roseanne doing that in the mid 90's. In that type of scenario, the credit crunch would really bother me because it's now blocking new scenes.
I'm sure there are more shows that have closing credit scenes, but none that I can tell on Antenna TV.

I'm not fond of the credit crunches either but I've learned to live with it. I don't watch Antenna TV too often anyway. Currently they are airing only two shows that I'm interested in, The Joey Bishop Show and The Paul Lynde Show. That's it. Antenna TV does air a few other shows I like but I have them on DVD so I don't need Antenna TV for those.

the reason me and other people on here hate the credit crunch so much is because we "old dinosaurs" want to see the shows the way they were originally shown. And before you say to just get the DVDS or watch them on You Tube; believe it or not everyone can afford a DVD player (yes I know that's hard to believe since they only cost $40) and not everyone has internet access.

Every show in syndication is edited so even if the credit crunch disappeared, you still wouldn't be seeing the shows the way they were originally shown.

I'm curious, are you one of the crunch haters here who says they won't even watch the shows because of it? I ask because if you won't view on DVD or Internet, that means that you'll never see a favorite show you like ever again just because of the crunch. It reminds me of the old saying "cut off your nose to spite your face."

I don't like them either, but posting repeatedly about it wouldn't change anything. If we're using old phrases, "beating a dead horse" comes to mind. I'm not trying to start a fight, I just don't think it accomplishes anything.
