Dear To Whom It May Concern,
I have a proposal for Antenna TV: to make a deal with Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution for Antenna TV to become the exclusive Digital Over-the-Air home of the hit '80s Family Drama "The Wonder Years," showcasing all 115 half-hour episodes of this beloved TV classic 100% Complete, 100% Uncut, AND 100% Unedited, as each episode originally was telecast on the ABC Television Network.
Created by Neal Marlens and Carol Black, "The Wonder Years" originally aired on ABC from January 31, 1988 - May 12, 1993, spanning 5 seasons of 115 episodes; the series starred Daniel Stern as Kevin Arnold, a 30-year-old man looking back on his childhood and teen years from 1968-1973 at ages 12-17 growing up in his hometown of Culver City, California, where Kevin lived with his parents: dad Jack (Dan Lauria), a 40-year-old NORCOM exec who, in 1972, left NORCOM after 20 years to start his own Furniture Company; mom Norma (Alley Mills), a typical American '60s Homemaker; and his teenage sister Karen (Olivia d'Abo), who lived in her own world of love beads and social protest, and brother Wayne (Jason Hervey), who was a bit of a bully to Kevin--and whom he had almost nothing in common with sans familial heritage.
Kevin's best friends at Robert F. Kennedy Junior High School (and later William McKinley Senior High School) consisted of Paul Pfeiffer (Josh Saviano) and his hoped-for girlfriend, Winnie Cooper (Danica McKellar), whose brother, Brian (Bentley Mitchum), had been drafted in Vietnam in 1968 and killed there soon afterwards while fighting for his Country.
Other regular characters over the course of the 5-year run of "The Wonder Years" included Ed Cutlip (Robert Picardo), Paul and Kevin's gym coach from 1968-1971; classmates Randy Mitchell (Michael Tricario), Chuck Coleman (Andy Berman) and Ricky Holsenbach (Scott Nemes); and Mr. Arthur Collins (Steve Gilborn), Kevin's 8th-Grade Math Teacher who died of a Heart Attack at age 50 in 1970, towards the end of Season 2 of "The Wonder Years" in 1990.
In a case of Life Imitating Art, Steve Gilborn, the Character Actor who portrayed Mr. Collins (and who in real life was a College Professor before becoming an Actor), died--for real--10 years ago of Cancer at age 72 on January 2, 2009 in North Cheltham, New York, near his real-life hometown of New Rochelle, New York, where Steve had been born on July 15, 1936.
Another case of that is Josh Saviano, who like his character Paul Pfeiffer, became a real-life Lawyer--specifically a Corporate Lawyer in New York as of 2016; rock musician Marilyn Manson (whose real name is Brian Warner) was rumored to have portrayed Paul Pfeiffer on "The Wonder Years" growing up, but as noted earlier, that rumor was proven False--as duly noted, Paul was portrayed by Josh Saviano.
Besides playing Kevin Arnold on "The Wonder Years," Daniel Stern also Directed 10 episodes of the series over the course of 2 1/2 years, commencing midway through the 1st season with 1989's "Pottery Will Get You Nowhere" and culminating in Season 4's "The Triangle"; during the series' run, Daniel, a Movie Actor, continued making movies such as "My Blue Heaven" and the first 2 "Home Alone" movies--theoretically, he would record his off-camera "Wonder Years" dialogue as the grown-up Kevin on either the Set Trailers of such films when he wasn't filming the said films or his home in Los Angeles by way of his hometown of Bethesda, Maryland, where he was raised Jewish, a Religious Belief he still holds today.
Likewise, Fred Savage (who played Junior Kevin, the younger version of Kevin Arnold, throughout the 5-year run of "The Wonder Years"), is also Jewish--of mixed Polish, German and Latvian Jewish background--by way of Chicago, where he was born on July 9, 1975; today, at age 43, Fred Savage followed Daniel Stern into the Director's Chair, having retired from Acting in 2004 and has since directed episodes of such modern-day Sitcoms as "2 Broke Girls" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." His younger brother, Ben (born on September 13, 1980 in Chicago), is best known for the hit Disney sitcom "Boy Meets World."
Presently, Distribution rights to "The Wonder Years" are split between 20th Television (a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) and Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, with 20th TV owning the Streaming and DVD rights while Warner Bros. has owned Syndication rights to "The Wonder Years" since 1997, when reruns began airing on Nick at Nite, where "The Wonder Years" made its Basic Cable Debut (as did reruns of "Doogie Howser, M.D." in Australia in 1995), continuing on Nick at Nite until February 2, 2001, after which reruns moved to The Paramount Network (then known as TNN: The National Network and later Spike TV) and later ABC Family (now known as Freeform), ION Television and the Discovery Family Channel.
Tentatively, Antenna TV shall welcome "The Wonder Years" to its regular lineup with a week-long "Wonderful Wonders of The Wonder Years" marathon showcasing all 115 episodes of "The Wonder Years" starting on June 3, 2019 at 5 A.M. ET; after the marathon, Antenna TV shall add "The Wonder Years" to its regular lineup airing Weeknights at 8 P.M. ET
