Hello,
I am a new poster to this forum but not a new "Alice" viewer. I watched the series during its original run on CBS and my favorite character is Flo.
I was just curious as to the group's opinion on the feature film that spawned this classic television series, "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore." I enjoyed seeing Ellen Burystn in the role made immortal later by Linda Lavin. Also Vic Tayback was a welcome sight as Mel; he conveyed the same warmth beneath that crusty exterior as he displayed in the tv series. My only problem with the film was Diane Ladd as Flo; in my opinion compared to Polly Holliday, she was a weak choice to play this part. So what are your thoughts on this 1974 film?

than the movies. Ellen did real good job

I've been seeing the DVD for the original movie in Big Lots for an absurdly low price and been meaning to pick it up, but hesitate... I saw the movie years and years ago and loved the Mott The Hoople opening song and Kris Kristofferson is also a favorite, but the most I remember is that the film seemed to have a really depressing air about it, maybe it was me at the time I was watching it, I'm not sure. Either way, of all the movies I've gladly revisited, this one for some reason I have never had much desire to see again.

With interest high in similar television remakes, as M*A*SH and the Odd Couple, I wonder who out there has watched ADLHA and the later "Alice" television show, and made any comparisons?
