I wonder if Mary-Kate and Ashley all but retired from on-screen performing by the time that they turned 18 because, they deep down inside, knew that they weren't going to have a long shelf-life as "serious" actresses. With all due respect, the older they got the more obvious they had no acting true talent unlike say Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber. They were renowned (https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/d657gs/hey_reddit_im_jay_abramowitz_in_the_1980s_and_90s/) for their robotic line delivery and over-rehearsed cuteness.

^^^ To me, Mary-Kate and Ashley did an awesome job on their last film named New York Minute. There is a scene near the end of the film when we finally learn what the problem is between the two characters that they give us and to me they couldn't have done a better job in it.
