"Queer as Folk" Reboot in the Works at Bravo
by Patrick Gomez
Dec. 18, 2018

Get ready for a whole new generation of "Queer as Folk".

A new version of the LGBTQ drama — which ran for 10 episodes between 1999 and 2000 in the U.K. and was remade for Showtime in 2000 and ran for five seasons — is in the works at Bravo with Universal Cable Productions producing, EW can confirm.

Russell T. Davies, the creator of the original series, is on board the new project as an executive producer, and Stephen Dunn is attached to write and executive-produce, according to Variety, which first reported the news.

It's already being remade. It's called network TV.

I liked the original. Probably won’t give the remake a chance.

"Queer as Folk" Reboot Moves to NBCUniversal's Streaming Service
by Lesley Goldberg
Aug. 15, 2019

NBCUniversal continues to play scripted musical chairs ahead of its unnamed streaming service debut next year. Bravo's "Queer as Folk" is moving to the Comcast-backed streaming service.

The reboot remains in development.

"Queer as Folk", originally developed for Bravo last December, continues to be written by Stephen Dunn (Closet Monster). Red Productions' Nicola Shindler, who produced the original U.K. series, is on board in the same capacity.

Digital Rights Group, who distributes the format — that resulted in Showtime's groundbreaking U.S. adaptation — will also produce. Russell T. Davies, creator of the original series, will also exec produce alongside Lee Eisenberg and Emily Brecht of Quantity Entertainment.

The new version is described as a modern take on the British series that centers on a group of club-going friends who find support in the gay community following a tragedy.

I always thought Queer As Folk was like an updated version of Happy Days. You had Michael as Richie, Brian as Fonz, Justin aka "sunshine" as one of the hoopla triplets, Ted and Emmitt as Potsie and Ralph. Lindsay and Melanie as Laverne and Shirley and rounding out Debbie and Vic as Mr and Mrs C. What a great show. I wonder what young queers are doing in 2019

Peacock’s "Queer as Folk" Reboot will not Return for Additional Episodes
by Christy Pina
Sept. 23, 2022

Peacock’s "Queer as Folk" reboot will not return for any more episodes.

Creator Stephen Dunn took to social media Friday night to announce the news that the series would not continue.

“It’s a rare gift in these times, and in this country, to be able to make a show as fearless and unapologetic as ‘Queer as Folk,'” Dunn wrote on Instagram.

“This experience changed our lives forever and we’re so grateful to have found this incredible new family. But today we received the disappointing news that we’re not getting a second season. We know how much it’s meant to the fans and while we’re heartbroken we won’t get to make more episodes, we wanna thank everyone for watching and falling in love with Brodie, Mingus, Ruthie, Noah, Shar, Julian, Daddius, Bussey, Marvin, Judy and Brenda. We’re so grateful for the chance to honor our community and are so proud of this show.”
