ABC is "eyeing a second season," according to TVLine. The Roseanne spinoff may have declined in the ratings since its October premiere netted 10.6 million total viewers, but it has become ABC's No. 1 comedy. It is also ABC's No. 2 show after Grey's Anatomy.
Lorimar Television 12-13-2018, 11:18 PM This can’t be, they said it was a flop. :p
RetroGuy2000 12-14-2018, 01:10 AM Definitely not a flop, if it's #2 on ABC.

Superswiper 12-15-2018, 11:18 AM I remember a lot of people saying they would boycott the show. I guess they were in the vocal minority.

Indeed they were and I'm laughing my butt off about it. It was mainly conservatives anyways so who cares.

Impressions 01-20-2019, 12:01 PM Yes, a season 2 looks like it’ll be in the cards. Redemption will feel so good, especially in the adversity of the far right people who said the show wouldn’t last another season yet never gave the show a chance and watched to give it ratings.

For that reason alone, I'm glad.
Heenan Fan 01-22-2019, 11:16 AM Why would right-wingers not want to see The Conners succeed?
Why would right-wingers not want to see The Conners succeed?
They're all butt hurt about the lunatic fringe known as Roseanne being pushed out. Because she was one of the crazies like them. So then they got all riled up and tried to protest/boycott the show. Well it obviously didn't work out for 'em.
It worked perfectly fine for us. In turn we got a better show with more in depth character development for the rest of the cast. I'm personally enjoying the more Darlene and Becky driven storylines. We finally get to see Dan at his most vulnerable in the series history (including the original series). With her gone we might actually see more older characters return. Like I'd mark out for a return of Arnie. Season 2 of The Connors gives them the opportunity to do so. Hell we could even get a episode return of Ziggy.

I don't think she's so Liberal lately. But, her politics have fluctuated before.

Not anymore
But the real Roseanne Barr is Jewish and a liberal...so?
Nowadays she's just lost it.
Heenan Fan 01-22-2019, 11:01 PM P.T. Barnum was right, I guess.

She's a devout Trumpaterian now.
Sara Gilbert discusses The Conners' Season 1 finale and plans for a potential Season 2 (https://tvline.com/2019/01/22/the-conners-finale-recap-season-1-episode-11/)
Gilbert says she hopes to see Katey Sagal and Johnny Galecki back for more episodes should the Roseanne spinoff return for a second season. ALSO: The Conners' ends Season 1 with 7.7 million total viewers (https://tvline.com/2019/01/23/the-conners-ratings-season-1-finale-renewed-or-cancelled/).
The Conners is closing in on a Season 2 renewal after new deals were reached with Sara Gilbert, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf (https://deadline.com/2019/03/the-conners-cast-new-deals-season-2-renewal-sara-gilbert-john-goodman-laurie-metcalf-1202579790/)
The three actors have agreed to return for 13 episodes next season, up from 11 episodes in Season 1. Deadline reports Gilbert, Goodman and Metcalf would each make about $375,000 an episode, up from the $250,000 per episode they were making in Season 1 and on the Roseanne revival.
Lecy Goranson becomes the last major The Conners star to sign on for Season 2 (https://deadline.com/2019/03/the-conners-lecy-goranson-new-deal-abc-renewal-season-2-1202580486/)
Goranson will receive a substantial raise for Season 2, which ABC has yet to order. But her new salary of $165,000 an episode pales in comparison to the $375,000 per episode that Sara Gilbert, John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf are each scheduled to earn next season.
Impressions 03-22-2019, 01:36 PM Awesome that season 2 is officially renewed.

Also interesting how Breitbart has said they their salaries were going to decrease as the show went on. Just shows that they are fake news and pandering to their base.
favoriteshow 03-22-2019, 10:06 PM It kind of sucks for Lecy to be making significantly less than Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman. Granted the latter two are seasoned actors, but how much story line will involve Jackie or Dan relative to Becky. I'm sure it will be close to equal for all. I don't think there is much to put in story for Jackie that hasn't been done over the years. Maybe they could do Dan finding new love with the Katey Sagal character, but the show would be better focusing more on the second generation of Conners, primarily Becky and Darlene with some DJ.
Lorimar Television 03-22-2019, 11:52 PM I guess because Lecy was off the original show for a full 3 seasons?
dee2364 03-23-2019, 09:32 AM I guess because Lecy was off the original show for a full 3 seasons?
That and the fact that the other actors are in heavy demand. They need to be paid a lot more to not jump ship for a more lucrative deal, or feel that it's worth the trouble to juggle the show with whatever side gig they have going on.
Dr. Thong 03-23-2019, 10:04 AM Billing and salary are negotiated by the actors' managers/agents.
Lecy may not have had a great agent or it may be contractual that the other actors make more.
John Ritter of Three's Company had a "top of the show" clause in his contract that said he had to make a certain percentage more than his co-stars. In effect, "top of the show" is another term for "star."
I just had a feeling that the show would get renewed for a second season.
