'80sSitcoms 12-07-2018, 10:47 AM You may have heard of the Christmas carol "Ding Dong Merrily on High" (I hadn't until 1987's "A Muppet Family Christmas" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi9qSKZuvC4), my favorite TV Christmas special ever).
Well, to "Facts" it up, we have:
"Three Bong Family on 'High' "!

Nah, the job’s all his. I’m just biding time here till Bonnie gets back and I go back to doing this on the One Day at a Time board. It’s boring over there without her.
I don’t suppose anyone on the Facts of Life was named Yudolph? That would be real easy to do

Not quite. But I do have a little song inspired by Rudolph..
You know Blair-y and Tootie
and Nancy and Cindy
Sue Ann, Joanna,
and Nat'lie (who's Mindy)
But do you recall
The most famous Eastland girl of all?
Molly, the Brat Pack Starlet
Couldn't get in any lines
After the second season
She decided she'd resign
All of the other students
Used to come and steal her scenes
They never let poor Molly
Join in, it was very mean
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
John Hughes came to say
"Molly, with your rising star
Won't you play us your guitar?"
Then how the students loved her
As they shouted out with glee
"Molly, the Brat Pack Starlet
You'll be in film history!"

Oh no! We're talking season Two, here. In the second season, Nancy got waaaayyy more lines than Molly. I don't remember the count, but I suspect Nancy got 30 lines in Season Two. Molly... maybe got 5?
RetroGuy2000 12-12-2018, 01:18 AM Good stuff.

Aw, thanks, Opus!
Molly played guitar twice in Season One of the show. I don't know what else might have been a bit obscure for a non-fan.

Well, Molly maybe got more once she joined the girls at the table in "Gossip" in your brilliant mock-up! :D
Let's see...
[goes over Molly's season 2 lines to best of memory:
"Blair, I can't get over seeing you chained to the kitchen like a galley slave. It's so...anti-woman!"
"Oooo, that's a blister."
"I guess...how ya holdin' up?"
"C'mon Margo, lay off."]
If I'm right, that's 4; you were very close!

Oh, Joanna Marie Polniaczek is better known as "Jo", a character occasionally seen in the final seasons of the show, sometime after the Golden Era of the Dorm Years. ;)
Lorimar Television 12-12-2018, 02:57 AM Oh, Joanna Marie Polniaczek is better known as "Jo", a character occasionally seen in the final seasons of the show, sometime after the Golden Era of the Dorm Years. ;)

RetroGuy2000 12-12-2018, 03:24 AM But she doesn’t exist in the iconic grandfather clock common room era so it’s easy to forget her. ;)
Exactly:
Golden Dorm Era: May 4, 1979 - November 18, 1980 - Iconic grandfather clock, mystery meat, guitar solos, crash diets, invisible boyfriends, cool backflips, and "ten, twelve girls" running around, just like a girls' school should have.
Silver Cafeteria Era: November 19, 1980 - September 21, 1983 - Classic cafeteria, kitchen, and lounge; Mrs. G properly promoted. Lost Girls still seen, but fading fast.
Bronze Edna's Edibles Era: September 21, 1983 - September 14, 1985 - Gourmet quiches, tasty souffles, and occasional customers made into sausages. Lost Girls never seen.
Copper Over Our Heads Era: September 14, 1985 - January 16, 1988 - Tacky gifts, huge shoulderpads, and giant hairdos abound, but our beloved Lost Girls get one last hurrah, while Mrs. G gets married off.
Leaden Pippa Era: January 16, 1988 - May 7, 1988 - Not much to say, here. Eastland is seen once more, but we don't even get a shot of the Silver Cafeteria or the Golden Dorm. Why would they do this?!
Lorimar Television 12-12-2018, 03:29 AM Gourmet quiches, tasty souffles, and occasional customers made into sausages. Lost Girls never seen.

Oh, no. That's two seasons later.
This is the iconic Halloween episode that's used in the opening credits for several years.
My sister and I had a gruesome theory that the Lost Girls were used in the sausage, and that's why they no longer appeared on the show.
...But then three of them showed up in Season 8, so that blew that theory... except for Molly, that is...

'80sSitcoms 12-14-2018, 11:40 PM Glad you guys enjoyed all your "gifts" from Mr. Bowab
Lorsie, "warbling" is another word for singing---at first I was thinking of Molly's feminism, but I wasn't sure if "8 righting Mollys" was a good fit, and otherwise I couldn't find a word with short enough syllables: "8 advocating Mollys" is just too clunky
Lorimar Television 12-14-2018, 11:48 PM LOL maybe 8 feminist Molly's
'80sSitcoms 12-14-2018, 11:51 PM Not too bad, maybe "8 fem'nist Mollys", lol. But now that I've posted it in my previous post, I kinda like "8 righting Mollys", like "righting a wrong", lol.

'80sSitcoms 12-17-2018, 01:19 AM Picture it...Eastland, 1979...Mr. Bradley's predecessor is standing outside the small season 1 cafeteria on a snowy night, looking in through a window on the merriment commencing...
Now, don your tunic, raise your cup of wassail, and join me in this ancient carol of Eastland!
(to the tune of "Good King Wenceslas")
:candle: "Ye Chang'd Mr. Crocker" :candle:
Mr. Crocker look-ed in
On the Feast of Stephen
Bradley, master of Eastland
(after "Dope" he's leavin').
Brightly smiled the girls that night,
Though "the Crock" was cruel.
Mrs. Garrett stepped outside
Lik'ning him to gru-u-el.
"Mrs. Garrett, stand by me,
If thou know'st it, telling
He in my place, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sir, he lives on campus now,
He the new headmaster.
Eastland's better with him, how,
Than when ye were head-ba-stard."
"I have buns of cinnamon
And meat made of myst'ry.
Let us dine, and when we're done
We'll talk Shakespeare hist'ry."
Crock and Garrett, forth they went
Civilly, no pushin';
Cafeteria within
Set with chairs of cu-u-shion.
"Mr. Bradley, here's 'the Crock',
Seems his ways he's mended.
Let's let him dine with our flock,
Buns and meat he's tended."
"Welcome here with our dear brood,
We shall host ye gladly.
Thou'll find our cook's Christmas food
Tasteth good, not ba-a-dly."
In good spirits they did sup
And the mood was merry
All eleven raised their cup,
Even doubtful Blair-y.
Therefore, Peekskill men, be sure
Wealth or rank possessing
Ye, who now good mood endure

That's great, 80s! So many funny lines! I particularly enjoyed the lines about the mystery meat and the cinnamon buns.
You definitely paint a lovely holiday picture at Eastland. I'm glad Mr. Crocker got to enjoy the feast, despite his past behavior.
I think that cafeteria was quite crowded!

Aw thanks, I had a very nice start with the carol being such an ancient one. I love medieval/old world pageantry. I picture a nice fire going in the cafeteria (regardless of if there were a fireplace or not, lol), the tables put together to form one large "banquet table", covered with things like roast goose, and yams, and cranberries, and pies, and puddings, golden goblets of wassail, and the ceiling and walls all hung with greenery. :)

Yes, I like how this carol not only tells a story, but it has a moral!

Nice and toasty on a snowy winter's* eve!
*(despite the fact that it's autumn until December 21st, lol)
"Therefore, Peekskill men, be sure"
Molly: "They're folks, okay, Mr. '80s??"
Me: "Sorry, Molly. I keep forgetting. They're 'folks'. "
(I thought about putting that in the song, but I didn't wanna interrupt the flow, haha)

'80s, with your love of 1980s media, Medieval pageantry, and beautiful 1980s fantasy cult classics like Return to Oz, how do you feel about Legend? (This is my very favorite 1980s cult classic fantasy/dark film beautiful Medieval old world pageantry extravaganza, and I promise not to be too devastated if you say you don't care for it.)

Very nice imagery, there! What girls' school private cafeteria wouldn't have a fireplace on the fourth wall?

Oh, interesting, your favorite is Legend. Well, actually, I've only seen it once, and that was several years ago when I recorded it on cable. So honestly I'd have to give it another go to really freshly absorb it all (the same goes for Willow as well).
I believe my favorite film in melting pot category is...hmmm, it maybe a tie between The Neverending Story and The Dark Crystal, with Return to Oz and Labyrinth up there just behind.
Very cute!
I admit I had to look up the clip to get the exact format. I was 97% sure of Molly's line (I forgot she had the "okay" in there), and Mr. Bradley's line was longer than I remembered, lol.

Oh, the cable version is not my favorite. The US DVD is the best. The European Version, which somehow became a Disney musical, is an abomination.
I'm not a fan of Willow. Just a bit too cutesy for me.

I definitely get the love for Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, Return to Oz, and Labyrinth. All classics. I remember watching the Artax scene (you know the one) and bawling my eyes out. Perhaps the saddest moment in 80s film history. even today, I... *sniffle* :crying:

I feel like such an anathema when it comes to that---that never gets me like it does almost everybody else! lol
I understand what you and everyone else mean, I just think for it to have more of an impact on me, I need to see more of their relationship together. It's like it came too early in the film for me to "appreciate" it. Conversely, the end of Old Yeller doesn't make me cry because I'm too conscious of the fact that there is no hope for Old Yeller; Travis does what has to be done (though it sucks for him that he has to do it, I do understand). Part of me knows for the safety of the family, there's no other way. Who knows, maybe the first time I saw these films I just didn't connect on certain emotional levels?
But I'm not heartless, I swear! Other media things do make me cry! lol :)
Also, I think part of me is conscious of the filming of that scene while it's on, and being utterly amazed at how well they trained those horses for that!

Well, after you and I have lunch with Julie Anne and Molly, you and I'll watch it together so you can see, lol. And hey, it's not like I enjoy it---I want to feel the connection to that scene, it's just that with those couple of circumstances, it kinda prevents me from doing so.
But, to show you I'm not a heartless Crock bastard, lol, in The Dark Crystal when one of the Skeksis at the end actually stabs Kira with a dagger---this great big monstrous cruel male viciously stabbing this delicate youthful heroine with purity of goodness in her heart, I mean, yikes, that seems, like, "PG" to me because it's so stark! I'll happily go on the lunch date with Julie Anne and Molly and you, though (we need Lorimar, too, though)! We can ask them questions no-one's ever thought to ask, like what was with the cheese dip, and if either of them saw Creepy Stranger lurking in the periphery of the grassy lawn when they taped the wrestling-in-the-grass scene. Okay, back to my non-icy heart, for one example, when they senselessly killed off my favorite soap opera character years ago, that was very hard for me to watch, and that and the ensuing aftermath/memorial/grieving scenes really got to me---and still do. It still bothers me when I even just stop to think about that whole horrible thing. :(
And then I can't watch Jim Henson's memorial service without tensing up and crying through it (okay so that's a real life event, but still).
And I pounded my fist on the bed and was fighting back tears as a 15-year-old boy when the author of my favorite series of books "turned away" my favorite character in the last book (it's hard to explain in generalities---not killed off, but this character's fate excluding them from everyone else at the end---being "the Nancy" regarding The Group!).

And the first time I saw that film, it was in 3rd grade, when our teacher played it for us on the TV, and we were all sitting/lying in the floor in front of it watching it. So maybe there was some talking or distraction going on during my initial viewing of that scene too, who knows?

[sigh], yes...Susan, my sweet Susan....(I figured you would know). I am appreciating Edmund more than I did now that I'm older, but yes, I grew up loving Susan the best (and Lord Drinian, and Hwin). I "got" her sensitivity and her concern for safety/caution (yet I was also kinda bratty like Edmund, but didn't wanna own up to it, haha). And I totally did not see that coming. Yeah. Under her entry in the book Companion to Narnia, it tries to say "but a careful rereading of her story shows that her fate is better prepared for than one might think", but I always concentrated on opposite points they brought up. Sometimes people try to make a case when it's not really clearly there.

What is it, in your opinion? I mean, it's indicated that Susan became a shallow person, but we never saw any of that, and it's explained away in a few lines of dialog that we never saw coming. Whatever happened between the Pevensies happened outside the books. Couldn't Aslan have, like, breathed on Susan?

We could go in-depth, but I and others believe it's basically about what Jill and Polly say about Susan, about her desire to be grown-up and taken seriously as an adult. I don't even think it's anything about "sex" (I'm looking at you, Rowling), it's that she chose to focus on the material world at hand and fitting into the world as an "at last" adult, thereby saying farewell to her spiritual experiences from earlier years.
I'll have to let you know some of what the Companion says (it's an encyclopedia of Narnia), and what some of my rebuttal thoughts are.
Couldn't Aslan have, like, breathed on Susan?
He did! In Prince Caspian..."Come, child, let me breathe on you. There. Do you feel better now?" "A little, Aslan." (though naysayers say that's one sign right there---she only feels "a little" better)
I haven't read the Companion book, and don't believe we were at all prepared for Susan's final storyline.
From my emotional overwrought teenage reaction, I know I sure wasn't! (and yeah, most any reader, I would think)

It was SALAD DRESSING!!!
I immediately launched off my chair and ran to a trash can to spit it out!
So be careful out there at your medieval banquets, what looks like cheese dip may not always be cheese dip!

Molly's string beans, Margo's rolls, Blair's pumpkin pie, Mrs. Garrett's mousse, and Alexandra's cupcakes.
We could also use some souffles, quiches, and maybe some horrible Chinese food, with expired fortune cookies. Alternately, we could get some of Natalie's pot-lid pizza.

So she said, "I'll run and I'll have some fun
Now before I'm sent away."
Down to the campus with a burnt roach in her hand
Running stoned around on the campus grounds
Saying, "Catch me if you can!"
She led him down the streets of town right to a Peekskill cop
And she only paused a moment when he cited her for pot!
Then Tumpy the stoner had to hurry on her way
And she waved goodbye saying, "Don't get high,
Or you'll get kicked out someday."
Tumpety Tump Tump

Tumpy the stoner was a jolly happy soul
With a stereo and a button nose
And two eyes as dark as coal
Tumpy the stoner was the group leader they say
And the members knew she'd get dope for you
Even grass from Ha-wai-ay
There must have been some magic in that ol' dorm bong they found
For when they smoked their grass from it they began to dance around!
O Tumpy the stoner was as high as she could be
While her roommates snored she could write reports
Just the same as you and me.

"Star of the East" is very, very obscure, now, and will likely become lost in a few generations. It was written in 1890, and was briefly very popular in that era. Wax cylinder recordings of the song can be found now on YouTube.
When my mother was a child in the 1950s, her parents gave her an old (now historic) piano from the late 1800s. Included in the piano bench was (now very old) sheet music, including "Star of the East" and other popular tunes from the late 1800s (not all Christmas-related, though, and including traditional folk songs such as "Red Wing"). My mother learned to play all of those songs, and they became family traditions. She still plays "Star of the East" at Christmas. :)
"O Holy Night" is stunning, but maybe not appropriate for a FOL parody, so I didn't bring it up. "Silver Bells" is another great song. "What Child is This?" is perhaps my favorite Christmas song, and of course with the music being from "Greensleeves", has an ancient, wonderful pedigree.

Happy golden days of dorm

If the suits allow

So have yourself a merry Lost Girl Christmas now

This one can be sung to the tune of "Angels We Have Heard On High":
Em'ly, we have heard she's high
Puffing dope, destroying brains
Pressuring our Julie Pie
To put ganja in her veins
Emmmmmily, really, really lame-o!
Emmmmmily, pot-head she became-o!
Em'ly, played by Helen Hunt
One of three girls in "The Group"
Making Sue Ann smoke a blunt
Hiding joints in lipstick tubes
Emmmmmily, really, really lame-o!
Emmmmmily, pot-head she became-o!
Bradley, why this gathering?
Searching girls' rooms all night long
What'd he find in dorm room B?
Finding then a bunch of bongs
Emmmmmily, really, really lame-o!
Emmmmmily, pot-head she became-o!
Come to Sue Ann's room and see
Bradley going through her things
But find no pot there, did he
Blair and Sue Ann, so lucky
Emmmmmily, really, really lame-o!
Emmmmmily, pot-head she became-o!
So we come to end of song
Gail and Tumpy were expelled
From Eastland, "The Group" is gone
Em'ly, too, the rules upheld

:cc: "Joy to the Girls" :cc:
Joy to the girls, the Lost have come!
Let all of Eastland sing
Let Mrs. Garrett prepare their room
For study'ng and sleeping
For study'ng and sleeping
For study'ng, for study'ng and sleeping
Joy to the girls, the Bradley reigns!
Let girls, their minds employ
While Molly and Cindy, Sue Ann and Nancy
Talk 'bout their dreams, and boys
Talk 'bout their dreams, and boys
Talk 'bout, talk 'bout their dreams, and boys
No more let Crocks and Bruners roam!
Nor frogs infest the ground
O Garret will make their young selves grow
Their stories will astound
Their stories will astound
Their stories, their stories will astound
She rules the girls with truth and grace
And makes nutritious food
The glories of her adviceness
And her maternal love
And her maternal love
And her, and her maternal love
RetroGuy2000 12-21-2018, 12:28 AM I just read through, very funny Retro! Love the Sue Ann references!
Oh yes. I figured as long as I was writing about Emily, I might as well talk about Emily and Tumpy's attempted corruption of Sue Ann and Blair. Even Gail got a moment to shine. It was a tribute not just to Emily, but to "Dope" and its cast of characters.
'80sSitcoms 12-21-2018, 12:30 AM It was a tribute not just to Emily, but to "Dope" and its cast of characters.
Oh yes, you caught the whole incident. I didn't mean to sound "short-changey", lol, I was just amazed at an even more minor character than a minor character (a la Tumpy) getting "her" own song! lol

My favorite line is "She rules the girls with truth and grace / and makes nutritious food" So true!
Bonus points for mentioning the most obscure FOL character ever, Miss Bruner.

Oh, no, I didn't mean to sound like I thought you sounded "short-changey"! That wasn't my intention at all. Just wanted to explain that even though Emily was the focus, I couldn't just write about her, because, aside from "Really." and her love of pot, we don't know a whole lot about her. In fact, I think we know more about most of the other Emilys, which is odd.

Ah, no worries!
because, aside from "Really." and her love of pot, we don't know a whole lot about her.
 True...although, we can say she is assertive! When Blair starts to leave with Sue Ann, Emily pops right up stopping Sue Ann in her tracks! She's so antagonistic! haha
In fact, I think we know more about most of the other Emilys, which is odd.
 But, is it though? I mean, Emily Mahoney co-starred in 4 episodes, and was pivotal in "I.Q." (after all, she had the lone copy of that I.Q. test for the second act! lol), and, well, we only know about Emily the baby because of her mommy "Ali-kins", lol. But yeah that is a funny thing to point out, lol.

That's true, but we don't even know her last name. I mean, here we are, in her and Tumpy's dorm room (although I suppose it could be argued it's just Tumpy's room). How often do we get a scene in another girls' room? Almost never. And yet we know so little, really, about this Emily.

Don't forget Fourth Season Emily, who appeared in three episodes and graduated with Blair and Jo (instead of Nancy and Sue Ann).
There was also an Emily in Season 7, Episode 4, "Teacher, Teacher".
Of all of the Emilys, only Emily Mahoney appeared in the opening credits, so even though she was only in four episodes, I think she is much less obscure than the many other Emilys. We actually know her last name!

RetroGuy2000 12-21-2018, 02:28 AM Dominick from Facts of Facts Podcast had a theory that Charlotte Rae must have had a rider in her contract during the first season that stated the script would in some way point out her ample rump, as that was worked into the script of nearly every episode.
I, on the other hand, believe Charlotte Rae had a rider in her contract which required at least one (1) Emily per season. Once Charlotte left the show, there was no reason to continue the Parade of Emilys, and the recurring name Emily gradually faded from the show, a mere memory of halcyon times...
It is the only way to explain why there were at least five girls named Emily on this show.
Dope Emily
Emily Mahoney
Baby Emily
Fourth Season Emily
Seventh Season Emily
...not to mention Emily Dickinson!

"Do you see what I see?
What is happening fellow girls,
Do you see what I see?
O woe, o woe
I barely say a line
Now the dialogue, most of it's thine
Now the dialogue, most of it's thine"
Said the sporty girl to the dorm housemom
"Do you hear what I hear?
Rushing by outside, dorm housemom
Do you hear what I hear?
A surge, a surge
A mighty rising flood
That turns baseball fields into mud
That turns baseball fields into mud"
Said the feminist to the mighty man
"Do you know what I know?
In your macho world, mighty man
Do you know what I know?
A girl, a girl
Confident with joy
She can be as good as a boy
She can be as good as a boy"
Said the farm girl to the people everywhere
"Listen to what I say!
Pray for wheat, people everywhere
Listen to what I say!

Harvested when dry
They will bring us whole grain and rye

For full effect you have to modulate right before the glorious rural Sue Ann verse! (I'm hearing the Bing Crosby version in my head, haha)
And I just now changed Cindy's from "the athlete girl" to "the sporty girl", as that flows better.
Also, I cracked myself up with "Pray for wheat, people everywhere"

As long as you are open to change, may I suggest changing "Sue Ann" to "farm girl" so that it matches the other verses? Only a suggestion.

Well, but the stress is on the third syllable: "Said the king", "Said Sue Ann" --- "Said farm girl" just isn't the same.
Besides, I liked using her name as it modulates and puts Sue Ann in a glorious, powerful light (something I thought you and Lorsie would appreciate! ;) ) But, if you have to change it for the formula, which I do understand, you could do "Said the hick" or "Said the rube", lol. Or, you could do "Said the farm girl" by saying "farm" and "girl" together quickly, lol.
*UPDATE*
Okay, yeah, nevermind, it works easier than I thought. I changed it.

:tree: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas :tree:
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the dorm
Not a creature was stirring; how unlike the norm!
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. RetroGuy soon would be there.
Our seven were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of cinnamon buns danced in their heads.
And Edna in her gown and Eastland nightcap
Had just settled down for a housemother's nap,
When on the dorm lawn there arose such a clatter
She sprang from her bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window she flew like a flash
(Bradley's "Eastland Streak" couldn't have made such a dash!)
The moon on the campus-wide new-fallen snow
Gave a luster of Shakespeare to objects below,
When what to her Appleton eyes did appear
But a Warner-made sleigh and eight Peekskill reindeer,
With a little sleigh driver so brimming with glee,
She knew in a moment, St. Retro was he!
More rapid than runners his reindeer they came,
And he blew 'pon a whistle, and called them by name:
"Now, Sue Ann! now, Cindy! now Nancy and Blair!
On, Natalie! on, Tootie! on, Molly 'Parkair'!
To the top of the dorm! to the ivy-top'd wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As rabbits before Peekskill floodwaters fly
When they meet with an obstacle, hop up so high;
So up to the dorm-top his reindeer they flew
With the sleigh full of bongs, and St. RetroGuy too —
And then, in her room, Edna heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each Bid-like hoof.
As she opened her door and was looking around
Down the common room chimney St. Retro did bound.
He was dressed all in Eastland from his head to his foot
And the track suit kept off all the ashes and soot.
A bundle of bongs he had flung on his back,
And beside them were jellybeans all in a sack.
His striking eyes danced! His brows, they were hairy,
His cheeks were like Steve's (the guy toyed with by Blair-y).
His forehead adorned by a sweatband, and lo,
On his chin a fake beard white as Wichita snow.
The stump of a roach he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad smile and a belly 'bove footing
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl of rice pudding.
Looking not like Mahoney but more like an elf,
Edna laughed when she saw him, in spite of herself.
A patch on his eye (set with rhinestones, they said)
And a straw hat told her she had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word but went straight to his work,
Filling stockings with cheese dip while wearing a smirk.
And laying his finger aside perky nose,
With a backflip, on up through the chimney he rose.
He wogged to his sleigh, blew again on his whistle,
And they faded away just like myst'ry meat gristle.
But she heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight —
“Like a school bus you're built! Who could pass on the right?!”
Merry Christmas! :santa:

On his chin a fake beard white as Wichita snow.
The stump of a roach he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad smile and a belly 'bove footing
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl of rice pudding.
Looking not like Mahoney but more like an elf,
Edna laughed when she saw him, in spite of herself.
A patch on his eye (set with rhinestones, they said)
And a straw hat told her she had nothing to dread;
:santa:
Nice poem! :)
RetroGuy2000 12-23-2018, 12:00 PM OMG, '80s, that was awesome! So many first season references, from the bongs and the cheese dip, to the backflip, the straw hat, the track suit, the headband, the roach, Wichita, the school bus, the rhinestone eye patch, wogging, the whistle, the mystery meat, the cinnamon buns, Spectacular Bid, the jellybeans, runners, rabbits, Mahoney, Steve, the flood, etc, etc...
(St. RetroGuy must look incredibly strange! )
:clap:clap:clap:clap
RetroGuy2000 12-23-2018, 12:13 PM Quick question. ODAAT had two Christmas episodes in 9 seasons. How many did FOL have?
I think four:
Episode 5-12, "The Christmas Show": The girls prepare to go their separate ways for Christmas vacation.
Episode 6-13 "Christmas in the Big House": As a result of a mix-up, the girls perform a Christmas show in a prison instead of a home for boys like they planned.
Episode 7-13 "Christmas Baby": Blair's mother goes into labor on Christmas Eve – six weeks before she's due.
Episode 9-10 "Post-Christmas Card": Beverly Ann feels unwanted at Christmas and wonders what it would be like if she had never come to Peekskill.
There is also an episode titled "Post-Christmas Card", episode 8-14: As a post-Christmas gift, Natalie gets her first credit card and promptly goes on a spending spree. However, it doesn't actually sound very Christmassy.

Thanks Retro! I had fun doing the songs, but this was the most "projectiest" project of all, lol. And it was really fun to sprinkle it with season 1 all throughout! (don't forget Bradley's "Eastland Streak" and "Shakespeare", too! haha [with the winter moon outside, sort of like an "A Mid-Winter's Night Fantasy", to borrow "the Crock's" style, haha] )

I'll say, in all that get-up! lol...and it's funny not having any idea what you look like in the first place, if you could pass as a "Santa figure" :santa2: or not (i.e., you may or may not have a belly of "rice pudding", lol). True story: I hadn't even pegged you as the "protagonist" when I started this, but it just seemed to fit: I couldn't put a FOL character in that role, your shortened screen name "RetroGuy" perfectly replaces "Nicholas", and, since you are "Santa-ing" we fellow board members with your beautiful gifts of FOL scripts, it only seemed fitting to fill the role with you. :)
I don't know if this will become a new classic with children around the world, but it's nice to know we can make a tradition of it here.
Merry Christmas!

And the rice pudding, and the girls' names, the dorm lawn, and more... Each line is chock-full of First Season goodness! :)

I remember the Christmas in jail episode. It reminds me of the 2 One Day At A Time New Years Eve episodes where they put on a show at an old folks home.
Lorimar Television 12-23-2018, 06:35 PM Man, FOL never had a holiday show at Eastland, then the second they leave, the show is chock full of them!
Got any plans for the festivities everyone?

I will spend the holiday with family. Already spent a few days with them, which is nice. We will munch on all sorts of delicious foods, and open presents on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Here, I will upload a FOL script for my fellow FOL fans to enjoy.

It's true!
I'm sure the thought was, "Well, these girls would be spending time with their families during the holidays". But by about Season Five, they realized the girls were their own family.

Never saw that one. I only remember ODaaT vaguely. The girls were cute, but I distinctly remember not liking the mom (sorry). I actually don't know why.

This is as close as I could find to a lost girls Xmas. If you drink enough eggnog it kinda, sorta looks like a Christmas tree :)

It seemed appropriate for Sue Ann, so I asked her to wear it.
