Shutting off a light seems much more like a tag moment than a cold open. And the script's presence at the end of "Dope" doesn't seem like where a cold open would go. Then again, I haven't seen the scripts for the episodes with cold opens included, so I could be wrong.

It definitely might be a cold open. Its presence, appended after the end of "Dope" seemed to indicate a tag. But either way, it ended up on the cutting room floor.

As a cold open, I think it might work best with "Emily Dickinson", as that episode involved homework and cheating.

And Tootie piping up with, "Hey, wanna hear some gossip?" and Blair looking "impish" (heehee) with "What?", or however their lines go. I guess that was the first "fake cold open" I saw because I remember being like, " :eek: B-but that's not how the show goes!"

It's interesting that they "de-evolved" by trying a couple of cold opens in season 1 and then not doing them at all, instead of what you may assume of not doing them, then progressing to doing them. Interesting.

Exactly. They cut the first scene into a small part, and a larger part, and moved the small part to the beginning, a la a "cold open"! (and that first part was cut for syndication, as it opened up right on Tootie blabbing about Mr. Harris, and nothing beforehand)
