To be kind of nit picky;
I have seen FB's character's name spelled as B-E-E.
I think that it's actually B-E-A ( for Beatrice).
Which is the correct spelling?
P.S. Does anyone know what her surname is?
Is she a Taylor or something else?

She's always referred to as "Bea Taylor" on the show. I assume she never married, because a marriage is never mentioned.

She hated the fact the role overshadowed her own real life and she never could find substantial acting work after the AGS. Interestingly just like Betty Lynn Ms. Beauvoir bought a home in the AGS real-world town of Siler City, NC never to act again. In fact both Andy Griffith AND Ron Howard on (2) separate occasions went to her home to ask her to reprise her role in the 1986 Return To Mayberry tv movie. She would only speak to them thru a crack in the doorway saying she had no interest in acting again. < That floored me. She died alone in the house w/ over 20 cats. So sad.

I used to spell it Bea, but I was always corrected. It's actually spelled Bee.

It's on her tombstone as Aunt Bee.

she's a Taylor; in a couple episodes it's said that she's Andys aunt.

It seems they played fast & loose w/a lot of background information throughout the entire series.

There is just her real name in the credits. I bet a writer wrote Bee in a script, then the next script writer wrote Bea.

Regardless of how her name was spelled much like every other main character on the AGS no one but Francis Bavier could have played "Aunt Bea". Just like no one but Harrison Ford could be "Indiana Jones" despite Steven Speilberg originally wanting Tom Selleck and did a few read thrus w/ him.

When she arrives to look after Opie after Rose got married “Bee” mentions how she loved the opportunity to babysit again. I think she looked after Andy when he was young. It was weird watching Opie be rude and not treating her well when in reality Frances didn’t really like children. Good acting.
