Star Trek: The Next Generation was predicted to be a huge bomb that would fade away after a couple of seasons. There were a lot of critics and fans who couldn't imagine the franchise going forward without Captain Kirk and Spock on the bridge of the Enterprise. The first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation had quite a few duds, but it was obvious that there were seeds of greatness hidden among the first few messy storylines. Eventually, the franchise found its footing and would go on to last for seven seasons and four movies.
The tumultuous atmosphere of the early seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation managed to alienate a few actors who worked on the show, while the movies managed to displease some of the guest stars who were only showing up for a single appearance.
