Were Archie's and Edith's parents still living supposedly during the time frame of the show? I always thought it'd be interesting to see how Archie would have interacted with his own parents-in-law.

View Full Version : Archie's and Edith's parents TheLittleFaerie 10-28-2018, 03:49 AM Were Archie's and Edith's parents still living supposedly during the time frame of the show? I always thought it'd be interesting to see how Archie would have interacted with his own parents-in-law. Yong Fang 10-28-2018, 05:10 AM That would have been interesting and could have been done and why wasn't it done? Archie and Edith were in their 50's which means they could have had parents in their 70's or 80's. Not that much of a stretch. TV Guy 11-03-2018, 10:36 PM Archie’s parents were both deceased. Archie and Fred talked about how their father, who survived their mother, left the house to Fred years earlier (which contributed to Archie’s and Fred’s estrangement). I don’t think they said much about Edith’s parents, although I vaguely recall Archie talking about Edith’s father in the past tense. TV Guy 11-05-2018, 09:41 PM LOL. Was that from the “Two’s a Crowd” episode? Laugh30 12-02-2018, 05:33 PM In the first episode, Mike mentions that Archie's parents David and Sarah visited. In another early episode they talk about a Christmas present from Archie's mother. A missed opportunity, yes, for them to have shown Archie and Edith's parents. A missed opportunity, yes, for them to have shown Archie and Edith's parents. It was a really odd quote. Mike said something like, "When your parents visited last year, weren't their names David and Sarah?", as if their names would have changed if they hadn't visited them. visaman666 12-03-2018, 08:10 PM Edith's mom tought her about sex by saying it was a duty a wife does for her husband that she wouldn't enjoy , but Edith thought she meant washing Archie's shorts. Edith loved sex, but didnt have the heart to tell her mom what a great lover Archie was. Pug Lover 04-17-2019, 02:09 PM I recall in one episode Archie telling Edith he was glad her mother was dead. The episode was "Unequal Partners" from season 8. PracTz 04-28-2019, 10:57 AM In the episode in which Lionel dates Archie's niece, Edith mentions that her own father hadn't mentioned any blatant prejudices against her dating minorities- just insisting that he wanted her to marry a man who'd treat her with respect. Mike asked how it was she'd chosen Archie, to which Edith replied that her father had died before she'd met Archie! Since her maiden name of Baines got mentioned, and she had quite a number of interactions with cousins and aunts, it's a bit odd I can't recall ANY of them mentioning what her late parents' (Mr. and Mrs. Baines) given names were. I mean, never did any of them say ' Edith, remember when we were kids visiting your house and Uncle___ took our jacks away after stepping on them!?' TheLittleFaerie 05-18-2019, 06:27 AM I thought Archie's mother was supposedly living at least, or maybe early in the show and was thinking her name was Susie, but maybe it was Sarah. I picture Archie's father as an even MORE extreme version of Archie. |
