Megyn Kelly Officially Out at NBC News’ "Today" Show
by Lisa de Moraes
October 26, 2018

“Megyn Kelly Today is not returning,” NBC News just announced. “Next week, the 9 a.m. hour will be hosted by other TODAY co-anchors.”

Her lawyer, Bryan Freedman, says in a statement “Megyn remains an employee of NBC News and discussions about next steps are continuing.”

The announcement was anticipated, NBC News’ own "Today" show having reported this morning the division was in talks with her reps about “her imminent departure”.

No one but good liberals get on the mainstream media. The day she signed that contract all of NBC erupted. Everyone knew she was a dead man walking.

Megyn Kelly's blackface defense was inadvertently revealing, the reaction of somebody who doesn't think about people different from them (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/25/arts/television/megyn-kelly-blackface-nbc.html)

Kelly must've believed her blackface defense on Tuesday was an entirely innocuous opinion, forgetting its racist history, says James Poniewozik. "To Kelly, this history was just a bummer, ruining an innocent good time," he says. Poniewozik adds: "It is a pattern, and not an unfamiliar one. It’s the kind of remark that comes from people who don’t see themselves as racist. They just see themselves as, you know, normal. Regular. The default. They grew up in a world where these normal, regular, default things were — well, they were just the way things were. ('Santa just is white,' Kelly said in 2013, as if saying the sun rose in the east.) And they don’t get why people are so upset and sensitive now about what they see as harmless. It is, at heart, the reaction of people who didn’t have to think much about sharing the world with people different from them. They were never asked to learn much about those other people, or consider how their actions and speech and 'harmless' entertainment might exclude or hurt them. Now people like Kelly are being asked to learn. And they’re puzzled, or irritated, or downright angry about it. Sometimes this feeling manifests itself in an offhand remark about Halloween. Sometimes it’s 'Why should I have to say, "Happy holidays?"' Sometimes it’s tiki torches and 'You will not replace us.' The degree is different. But it all comes back to: My thing used to be the main thing, the automatic thing, and now it’s not, and I don’t like it."

ALSO:

Megyn Kelly never belonged on Today (http://www.vulture.com/2018/10/megyn-kelly-blackface-comment-nbc-cancelled.html): "The Today show is not just what’s on the background when you drink your morning coffee," says Jen Chaney. "It is the TV equivalent of morning coffee. It provides a bit of a jolt — the Today team does cover the news of the day, and the days we’re currently living are a nonstop hellscape of stories about alleged sexual assaulters and pipe bombs being sent to Barack Obama — but it’s also meant to be a warm, comforting part of Americans’ daily routines. That’s not who Megyn Kelly is or what she represents, at least as a television personality. If you asked me to free-associate adjectives that describe her, we’d be both here until Election Day before I ever got to 'warm' or 'comforting.'"
Kelly's blackface controversy was her being completely in character (https://www.thedailybeast.com/megyn-kellys-blackface-comments-were-completely-in-character)
Kelly's colleagues had grown envious of her large salary, exasperated by her on-air gaffes and disdainful of her low ratings (https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/megyn-kelly-is-out-at-today-after-her-blackface-comments-but-the-nbc-family-rejected-her-long-ago/2018/10/25/ebd39cd0-d7ac-11e8-aeb7-ddcad4a0a54e_story.html)

UPDATE: NBC's Today reported Friday morning on Kelly's "imminent departure" (https://tvline.com/2018/10/26/megyn-kelly-leaving-nbc-today-show-video/)

Al Roker is the odds-on favorite to take over the 9 a.m. Today slot from Megyn Kelly, at least temporarily (https://deadline.com/2018/10/megyn-kelly-today-show-future-blackface-comments-analysis-1202489613/)

The Today weatherman could return to the timeslot he shared with Tamron Hall. "NBC’s Today show weatherman-and-so-much-more Al Roker is odds-on fave to step in to Kelly’s 9 AM weekday Today time slot," according to Deadline, "at least on an interim basis. It makes sense, as he was one of the Today time slot’s two co-hosts – Tamron Hall was the other – for several years, until NBC shoveled out $70M to land the Fox News Channel primetime star, giving her the hour." ALSO: Tamron Hall and Al Roker were all smiles in a photo she posted to Twitter Thursday night -- without referencing the Kelly scandal (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6318949/Al-Roker-Tamron-Hall-reunite-Broadway-play.html).

Kelly was a star because of FOX, she left, the ratings didn't skip a beat. NBC got suckered in. She is the very definition of a phony, her flaw, she can't hide it, it comes across.

Megyn Kelly, NBC News Close to Finalizing $30 Million Exit Deal
by Dave Nemetz
November 20, 2018

It pays to be Megyn Kelly: The former "Today" host is nearing a $30 million settlement to finalize her exit from NBC News, according to the New York Post.

The $30 million represents the full value remaining on the reported $69 million contract Kelly signed when she joined NBC News in January 2017 after a long stint at Fox News. The deal won’t be officially locked down for at least another week, sources tell the Post, but “everyone wants this to be over — both Megyn and NBC — and Comcast has the money to pay off Megyn.”

This might not be the last we see of Kelly on our TV screens, though: The Post‘s sources expect her to “take a short break from TV and return to cable news ahead of the 2020 election.”

If only she didn't make those comments, she would've still been doing her show.

But what she said wasn't THAT bad. We still have a first amendment don't we??!

She mentioned blackface in the context of PRAISING Diana Ross. There was NOTHING insulting or derogatory about black people AT ALL!! If this happened 10 to 20 years ago she would NOT have been fired but just disciplined.

The problem is liberals have gone SO far left and the media feels they MUST go with them because they're SLAVES to the liberal base!!

The First Amendment protects our speech from backlash by the government. People are free to criticize Megyn Kelly, and Megyn Kelly's freedom of speech doesn't mean a private company, NBC, can't fire her. It doesn't work that way. It's their network and they can fire someone if they feel she crossed a line. Many people feel she did cross a line.

I find Megyn Kelly cold and off-putting; watching her is like watching an alien, or someone who can't relate to real people. In her interviews, she was often stiff, and often seemed unable to connect to her guests. Her earlier comments about Santa being white didn't help her case.

I know but there is a liberal double standard! Joy Reid made several hateful homophobic statements on her Reid blog yet was NOT fired by MSNBC. You KNOW if that was a conservative blog they'd be fired that SAME day!

Also Mika Brezinaki recently called Secretary of State "butt boy" yet was NOT fired! Joe Biden said Barack Obama was well spoken and intelligent for a black man! You KNOW if a conservative said that they'd be roasted over the coals!!

Megyn Kelly & NBC Reach Official Exit Deal
by Dominic Patten and Lisa de Moraes
January 11, 2019

Nearly three months after NBC News cancelled "Megyn Kelly Today" in the wake of the host’s on-air Halloween blackface defense the Andy Lack-run network division has finally reached an agreement with the former Fox News superstar for her to officially walk out the door.

“The parties have resolved their differences, and Megyn Kelly is no longer an employee of NBC,” said the company in a statement this evening.

The details of the deal look to be held close to the Comcast-owned division’s chest and Team Megyn too. However, it does seem that Kelly reaped all of the remaining millions on her $69 million dollar three year contract and there are no limitations on where she can work next, we hear. The confidentiality and disparagement aspects of the agreement are pretty standard corporate stuff.

As for what Kelly may eventually have to say about her time at NBC, there seem to be no current plans for the best selling Settle For More author to write a book or a similar public display.

Megyn Kelly's NBC run was a disaster from start to finish (https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/kateaurthur/megyn-kelly-nbc-news-disaster)

"Megyn Kelly's conclusive separation from NBC News, which was finally — FINALLY! — announced on Friday, was ugly and bungle," says Kate Aurthur. "Just like her time on the network. Kelly's whole year-and-a-half run was like witnessing a slow-motion train wreck. But the past two and a half months — during which Kelly's lawyer and NBC negotiated her exit agreement — have been fascinating: The network couldn't even fire her efficiently."

Now she's probably worth close to $100 MILLION & never needs to work a day in her life again!!

I don't see how she gets a major news/commentator job again because BOTH the left AND right dislike her! I'm surprised NBC hired her to begin with!
