I believe that the fourth Conner child was mentioned to be working on a boat on the Roseanne revival, so they didn't entirely forget about him. Still, does Jerry know that his mom died? It's kind of odd that he didn't show up let DJ's wife, who is still on active military duty, was able to show up. Maybe Jerry did show up to the funeral (which was three weeks prior), but he wasn't going to be given three weeks' bereavement leave (or any bereavement leave). So he had to get back to work.

Roseanne said something about him last year on the first episode about him being on a boat and never calling or anything but that's it and what about Jackie's kid Andy. What happened to him, she's never said anything.

Even when he was first introduced in the original series, he was never a big part of it. So I don't find it to be a big deal.

Technically, The Conners is a new series. Spinoff but a separate series. So, no explanation needed really.
